He thought it would be 8-10 and nowhere near the 33k max. To say he was shocked is an understatement

yeah thats crazy. I assume he had no flood insurance. Most i've heard has been about 18k but around 7k for a lot of other friends. The only pattern I could see (other than total loss) was the amount of income each house hold has. The more income the less they got back. In some cases didnt get anything at all.

Just curious how much water did he have and about how big was his house?

It probably still isn't as much as he needs. I hope to hear many stories of people getting more than they expected in the coming weeks/months though.

Hopefully that's a good start for him.

Has he looked into the shelter home program as well? That could help get his house ready for renovation.

2200 SQ FT in denham. Middle income earner. Lost pretty much everything. Able to salvage a few clothes in the top of the closets. Lost both vehicles. No insurance as it was not required.

Frick you to whoever down voted.

Just posted this in the other thread...

Their inspection was this am. Woke up to a text saying their case updated. I go online to look...FEMA IS SAYING MY DAD IS DENIED FOR EVERYTHING BECAUSE HE HAS FLOOD INSURANCE!!!! He doesn't!!! My dad is on the phone with them now and is freaking out. Even showed the inspector his home owner's policy that clearly states he had NO flood coverage.

Do homeowners polices typically show that a person has flood insurance? I know mine doesnt.

Yeah I mean I am looking at a small sample size like 8 people I know. So it might just be a mere observation for me and nothing factual.

I don't think so. You could check the mortgage escrow to see if money was being paid our for flood.

Household income $60-80K?

middle income is extremely vague. OT middle income would be $120-150K

I didnt think so...I've never seen a homeowners policy show whether or not that person has flood insurance.

Don't freak out. My mil had this outcome last week. Just have to fax them copies of your homeowners policy stating no flood ins and they will review it again. She is still waiting to hear back but on her account it does state it is being reviewed again.
