Lincoln Parish Park was so much damn fun to run. Love that place.

6-8 years ago the Buccees in Terral TX was about the only thing on that exit. Now there is like 3 hotels, a Lowes, a movie theater, a Longhorn Steakhouse, a Chick Fil A, a Whataburger, a Starbucks, a Canes, a Freddy's Burgers, and even more than that with new buildings still being built.
Buccees needs to capitalize on the EV movement and add charging stations, develop some home away from home/hotel spaces while you wait for your EV to charge. You can spend the night in a beaver themed hotel room.
There is green to be made with green technology.

Ruston...the little town that wants to be more important than it is. I've never understood just what gives them a reason to be so snooty.
lived there 3.5 years in college. Never met any of the snooty people you talk about. Attended church every Sunday and worked in the admissions and housing office. Everyone was always more than polite and warm. Maybe it’s the other way around?

I've not seen Buccees create development near them. It's a one stop kind of place and their business plan puts them just outside cities or towns where it will be an easy on and off the interstate.
this is just a plain stupid comment.

Have to drive to Monroe/Shreveport to eat at a good restaurant.

Is Gap Farms Travel Center for sale yet?
Buccee's will kill every gas station between Haughton and West Monroe.

Uh, yeah. They chose it because there's a shitload of people driving down I-20 and they got a good deal on the land. I don't think it's about the people of Ruston, whom I know well because I'm related to a ton of them. Ruston...the little town that wants to be more important than it is. I've never understood just what gives them a reason to be so snooty.
I’m sorry about Buccees coming to Ruston. Hopefully you can get the help you need with it though, good luck

Costco will be building a facility in the Ruston area.
If you think about it, Ruston is the last stand for Louisiana. As Ruston goes, so will Louisiana. The amount of wealth in the Lincoln Parish and surrounding area is simply staggering.
That area has more multi millionaires per capita than any other part of the state. This holds true pre and post Haynesville Shale.
All that said, it is the perfect spot on I20 for travelers to Dallas and back east to Jackson. The town happens to be in the right place geographically for a Buccees.
Lair that with a pro business mayor that does not have the political red tape that other cities have to deal with and it is a win for all.

I thought the Costco rumor got squashed....
Posted on 1/10/23 at 2:47 pm to PaperTiger
Nah
They trying to determine what type of facility to put in and were waiting on buccees to pull the trigger.
I believe Costco is going with a hybrid business center / retail center - they won’t sell gas at the location
I have been to a CBC in California - super nice

Is Louisiana Tech still on the Quarter System or did they finally move over to Semesters?

I would agree there are better steakhouses in North Louisiana than Beau Vines, but to act like there's nothing to do in Ruston, for small town living, is a bit disingenuous. There's Dawg House, Utility Brewing, Trio's, Roma, Hot Rod's BBQ, Brister's, just off the top of my head. Not to mention Raw, is there a better sushi restaurant in Louisiana?
And you have Squire Creek 10 minutes out of town and it may be the nicest Country Club in the state

I noticed yesterday that the Buccees in Loxley, AL has about 10-15 EV charging stations.

Never been to N. LA or Buccees. Explain like I'm five:
Will it be in the actual city limits of Ruston?
How close will it be to Grambling? Will it be on the Grambling side?

Imagine if Chick-fil-a had a gas station. Clean, friendly, and good products. 120 Gas pumps, they will be 50% filled or more the majority of the time. Starting pay is like $16/hr, managers make high five to 100k+, so attracts quality. Traffic attracts more retail and dining areas generally. Economic impact annually is generally in the high eight figures.

Yes. It's the new exit by the junior high on the West side in between the Grambling exit and the LA Tech exit.
ETA: If you ever went to Rabb's you had to go up an exit and come back down a service road to the bar/restaurant. There is now an exit right there.

no, you got off at the Tech exit and took the service road to Rabbs...no one went to Grambling and then turned around

A private country club isn't something for your every day person to go to. I'm not saying there isn't anything to do in Ruston as a whole or it isn't a nice place to live. But there isn't anything that you can do in Ruston that isn't exactly like most towns in Louisiana.

My son goes to Tech and when we tell anyone our age about it they say "I hated Ruston it's a dry town." Which is also not true. Even on Sundays you have to drive a whopping 1 mile from campus to buy beer.
