The vast vast majority are not sympathetic. Only other criminals are sympathetic .

when something happens involving whites you will see comments about the people being economically challenged trash and how the poor environments breed that type of behavior..... let it be a black person in the same situation and you would almost swear by the comments here that it was the color of their skin that inherintly made them commit the crime more so than the economic situation of their upbringing.
This, all day, every day.

A felon with an illegal weapon that he waived at people in a gas station parking lot and was trying to get out of his pocket while getting arrested.

I think Torres had the right idea. Rather than the city taxing the FQ merchants to death and then squandering the money on bullshite, the FQ Merchants Association should be able to raise their own funds and put private security out around the area. Fixed observation posts coupled with roving patrols armed with cell phones and coordination with NOPD would allow the officers to be in the area before crime happens. But Mitch fought Torres when he tried to set this up and I can't figure out why.
While putting officers and Troopers on Bourbon St is nice. The crime is happening off of Bourbon these days. They need to quit checking out tourist chicks and start getting out on patrol.

We do. Have you not seen some of the beatdowns they have taken?
And have you sat up af Criminal District court and seen the black people from the hood on the stand testifying against defendants and trying to put them away for attempted murder only for said defendant to get 3 years, while the witness goes back to the same neighborhood to live???? Because it is happening every single day up there at Tulane and Broad

okay.... what are you saying?
You asked for a situation in which black people defended a thug and I gave you one. Alton Sterling. That is what I am saying. So, try and twist it however you wish.
I don't have time to list more but there are more.

uhhhhh, nope, trash is trash and has precious little to do with economics...I know a lot of well off folks who do trashy stuff...is about selfishness, a lack of regard for oneself much less others, etc

But many of the protesters I'd say are protesting the riff with the way the community is policed and the war on drugs that is still raging.

What I'm saying is putting a color on someone is just a poor excuse when it has much more to do with the environment the child was raised and more so than not economically depressed areas breed more trash. Black, white, brown... of course it isn't a rule but an indicator.

What I want to know is why we see so many "protesting" Sterling when it's obviously a clean shoot for anyone with a brain. If they're not all criminals, why do they go out and cause trouble over a convicted rapist and felon? Wouldn't they be happy a felon is dead?
It was more about the cops than Sterling. For many, experiences with police have been bad. For some, folklore about cops is passed down. Some exaggerated, some not. Wrongly, many protestors opinions about Sterling were clouded because of their focus on the police

The state department should issue a travel ban to New Orleans.

You laugh but this has become high profile in the city. NOPD typically does a good job on the high profile cases.

I hate the crime, but I will say that the vast majority of the tourist I talk to in the city don't really know that New Orleans wins most categories when it comes to violent crime. Yeah they know there is crime but don't think it's any worse than anywhere else.
shite the poster 31Always still laughs and gives me shite for one night arguing drunk with some females from Minn about how Nola was the murder capital or some shite
He probably still has the pic of all of us out drinking and me all serious in my conviction

We have a relatively uncivilized, less capable, sizable minority in whom for the last 50 years we have inculcated and encouraged a deep sense of resentment toward the dwindling majority.
What did we expect to happen?
They're not hungry, they're not being suppressed. They're just unsuccessful, angry, and physically strong. And now we have destroyed their family structure and with it went their morals.
Good luck, America!
