Instrumentation is a great trade. If you’re really good, you’ll have a good career.

I have a family member who just graduated high school and just landed a job with a well known plant. They are paying to send him to school and he's enrolling in a Maintenance Tech (or something similar) program. It covers multiple skills/trades, and he can specialize down the line if he wants.

Haha. You're such a tool. I don't work. She does and my income is still higher than hers as a RN.

Don’t go welding. Operator baw is only 2 years. HVAC or electrician are really good choices too

Instrumentation

It’s like being an operator without the stress and shift work

I just paid an HVAC repair man $550 for about two hours of work to fix my units after some rats surprised me and chewed through a wire.

I definitely recommend he go into that line of business.

Serious coin can be made working on a Mack or Peterbilt. 20/20 that's the route I would have taken.

Electrician. HVAC and plumbing would be great, but he may get tired of the emergency calls and weekend calls. Say goodbye to holidays with family (when he has one).

Electricians are going to be in high demand nationally in the next 5-7 years

I read somewhere that the average age of a master electrician is creeping up into the 50s and there really isn't anyone behind them to replace them.

If you can go to trade school, become an apprentice behind one and don't screw around, you set yourself up to take over their outfit when they retire.

I watch This Old House religiously. Looking at the show, the trade I would probably go into is carpentry. It not only provide you with a good living, but it also I can give you a release for your artistic endeavors.

Either welder or instrument technician. Instrument techs have a better shot at getting hired on direct. I haven’t seen many direct hire welders
