Brother wants me to go all the way to Cali for him to propose

My brother whose 29 is going to pop the question. The girls from Cali. They live in Dallas and she moved there for him so he's gonna ask her in Cali. He wants me to be there for it and the flight would be free. I just graduated in Petroleum Engineering and work 7 on 7 off in the shallow gulf. I come in from a shift on Thanksgiving day and he wants me to immeadietly hop on a flight from Nola to CA. I know my mom will hold a grudge on me if I don't go but she expects me to be a perfect choir boy. I havent told him what I'll do yet. I told the rest of my family I think it's ridiculous just for a proposal. What does the OT think

It's somewhat of a weird request but I would just suck it up and go if it was important to him. I sounds like you're close enough that it would mean something to him. Better to go than to have regrets. There are certain things that you can't ever take back. 25 yrs from now you'll probably be glad you did it even if they don't work out.

Dude with that schedule you should be jumping on any opportunity to go on vacation on your 7 days off. I worked the 7/7 schedule and was always somewhere different on my weeks off
