British Airways to begin direct flights from New Orleans to London

Beginning on March 27, 2017, just in time for the annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, British Airways is expected fly four flights a week from Armstrong to Heathrow Airport in London. Flights would leave London at 3 p.m. and arrive in New Orleans at 7:30 p.m. Outbound flights would leave New Orleans at 9:40 p.m. and arrive in London at around noon the next day. British Airways is expected to use one of its new 214 passenger Boeing 787 Dreamliners on the New Orleans flights. New Orleans businessman Greg Rusovich and GNO, Inc President and CEO Michael Hecht were members of a delegation that made several trips to England to help land British Airways.

Great. Will definitely use them for my Europe trip when the time comes, so long as they aren't too ridiculously priced. I don't mind paying a premium for direct flights, though.

A 787 is just an efficient 767. Delta used to fly 767s into MSY all the time.

MSY can easily accommodate a handful of 747s if the demand was there. Could even take a couple a380s too.

747s loaded to the max with fuel and cargo have used east/West runway often
