U.K. leader vows to ban American bully XL dogs after fatal attack: "Danger to our communities"

U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced his intention Friday to have a type of dog known as the American bully XL banned in Britain, calling them "a danger to our communities."

The announcement came a day after a man died from injuries sustained during an attack believed to have involved this type of dog. A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after originally being arrested on suspicion of having dogs dangerously out of control.

The death followed another recent attack in England in which an 11-year-old girl was seriously injured by an American bully XL.

Animal shelter in Turkey's Antalya become a home for "dangerous'' dog breeds
A December 2021 file photo taken at a shelter for homeless dogs in Antalya, Turkey, shows what appears to be a female American bully XL, a large dog originally bred from the American pitbull terrier.

Neither the U.K. nor the U.S. Kennel Clubs recognize the bully XL as a unique breed, though some other organizations do. It was originally bred from the American pitbull terrier and strongly resembles that breed, but larger.

"Today I have tasked [government] ministers to bring together police and experts to firstly define the breed of dogs behind these attacks, with a view to then outlawing it," Sunak said in a video shared Friday on social media. "It is not currently a breed defined in law, so this vital first step must happen fast. We will then ban the breed under the Dangerous Dogs Act."

If added, the American bully XL, or XL bully as it is sometimes called, would be the fourth breed banned under the 1991 Dangerous Dogs Act in the U.K., joining the pitbull terrier from which it was bred, the Japanese tosa, the dogo Argentino and the fila Brasileiro.

Quite possibly the most divisive thread of all time on the OT. Let the civil war begin!

@MattWalshBlog

This is ridiculous. Yes pit bulls maul and kill people at a vastly disproportionate rate. Yes they are genetically predisposed towards aggression. Yes when you have a pit bull you are unfairly forcing all of your neighbors to assume the risk. Yes the argument for banning them is absolutely bullet proof and there is literally no reason why anyone needs to have this kind of dog. But I saw a picture once of a pit bull cutely snuggled up in a blanket so all of these arguments are automatically debunked.

They won’t. I’m fact they’re opening the gates and letting them flood in…

It’s not even legal to own a walking stick in Britain so humans are defenseless against the murder dogs

The OT, in typical OT fashion will find something to complain about even though it professes to hate pit bulls.

Pit bulls were bred as fighting dogs which is now illegal in the USA. Who thought it was good idea to turn them into pets? They are not even cute.

My good friend has a pitbull. He would tell you how peaceful it is and such a good dog. He would have to show you the dog in the parking lot though, its not allowed in the dog park due to it trying to literally kill all the other dogs. Just misunderstood.

An ex-girlfriend of mine had one of these devil dogs. She swore it was gentle. One day I was playing fetch with it and for unknown reason it decided to go for my arm. Thank God I was in great shape back then and could fend it off, getting a good hold of its collar until she came outside and talked it off of me.

The whore then said it was all my fault. I couldnt break up with her psycho arse fast enough.

I did hear she had to get rid of it a couple years later as it was being too aggressive with other dogs in the neighborhood.

Pit Bull owners are seriously fricked in the head. They are like those cat people in Tiger King.
