If he would have told the FA about his antics during the flight briefing or over the PA he would have been safe since the FAs never listen to either.

Ideally you'd like your pilot to be sober. But given the choice between being hungover, drunk, or on blow, I'd choose my pilot to be on blow out of those 3. At least be wide awake and attentive and focused.

I used to do some work with the EAP for our pilot's union, by and large alcohol was the drug of choice, the only cases of drug abusers were among the younger, civilian flow through
guys, and there wasn't a whole lot of that
