Bringing home the bacon. What would you do?

I caught a comment or two on a FB post that showed up on my feed. I don't know the dude in question, but I observed from afar (know some of the people commenting).
Dude in question was recently laid off, has kids and a wife, and has been looking for work since he was laid off. He turns to FB for advice/help on getting a new job.
The normal suggestions trickle in. Mow lawns, flip burgers, keep applying to work. Someone mentions off-shore, but I guess that is out of the question due to family (cool, I can understand that) - some mention work that requires weekend work. He states he does not want to work weekends. Not because of his kids or spending time with is family, but because of LSU sports. At that point I shook my head, and it made me wonder. What would you be willing to sacrifice for the good of your family? What would you NOT be willing to give up?
I have no kids so I don't know. I know I'm a selfish person, and it's why I've chosen to not settle down or have children.

If I had to do it to feed my family, I would never watch another Carolina sport. Obviously.

Well, at least he has his priorities straight.

I would sell my bodily organs if my kid was faced with the possibility of being hungry/homeless.

That's what I would think as well.
But obviously people have different priorities. I'm selfish and enjoy going on vacation whenever I damn well please so I'm holding off on procreating. Once I decide I'm ready, I'd like to think I'd give away everything for them.

I guess it really matters how long he's been laid off. If I was laid off I'd start looking for another job, but wouldn't necessarily take the first shitty job that I came across. Maybe this guy has a decent nest egg and doesn't have to find a job immediately.

Your wife makes plenty giving out BJs behind the 7-11 anyway.

I have a good friend that husband's was laid off in Feb. Things were tight before he got laid off, but he has had exactly one interview since he was laid off.
She is getting really upset about it. They need the money.
