Yea, I mean their animators/drawers have gone on to do many projects on their own and used as close to the same style as they possibly can, and basically every synopsis about the movie they are sure to make sure you know they are a former Ghibli artist. So, I don't think there is much leg to stand on here.

The part about the name is one of the big debates in AI training legality/ethics right now. Some companies are intentionally removing artist names from training datasets so that the art is there in the training data, but people can’t directly prompt for a specific artist/studio.
But then the question becomes “where do you draw the line?” What about characters like Spider Man or Pikachu? The whole thing is messy and hasn’t really been resolved legally yet. Then you have this patchwork of laws evolving in different countries, which makes it more complicated.

Yeah. I didn't know a single person into it. I think the Ghibli memes are amusing but I don't have any reference for it. So it's always weird when some anime thing goes viral and I'm genuinely, 100% lost.
But then, I think it's bizarre when dudes my age are hyped about Ant Man 24: Rise of the Red Ant Holocaust comes out since I knew like 2 people who were into comic stuff growing up in the 90s and none into all the more obscure stuff that still prints money now.
