The answer is yes. We have a ton of street legal carts here in Florida.

No, I was simply curious how a tragic accident like this is able to happen.

It’s possible when someone gets hammered and drives 40 over on a slow street.

I’ve never been close to a golf cart while driving.

You weren’t the driver so this fact doesn’t do anything for us.

Are they allowed on city streets where this happened?

Yes but even if they weren’t it wouldn’t absolve driving 40 over while drunk.

Aric has been moved out of ICU and is doing okay physically, thankfully. He’s awake and aware that Sam didn’t survive and he’s inconsolable as you can expect.

He is an awesome guy and Sam was such a sweet, sweet woman. This a fricking senseless tragedy that could have easily been avoided if that girl had not gotten behind the wheel. No one deserves this, especially not Sam and Aric.

Friend of mine was killed under similar circumstances. I went to the sentencing hearing. My buddy was killed by a drunk driver while jogging in a neighborhood early in the morning. The guy got 22 years plus like 5 more of probation. I think he’s eligible for parole after like 14 years then has the 5 of probation. Also got like 200 hours of community service. That about the max the judge could give him for vehicular manslaughter for a first time offender.

Killer driver retweeted this showing her attitude towards alcohol (this is before the accident).

Have fun but jeez don't drive!

It was never excusable, but with Uber and Lyft there is absolutely no reason to drink and drive these days.

Yeah I’m nearly certain the 100 yards is a misprint.

Simple curiosity bro.

You don’t need to white knight for the victims here. I’m on your side.

I said the exact same thing a few days ago here in drinking and driving thread and everyone was all “Meh nanny state” and “meh adults should be able to…..” and “meh texting and driving is just as bad” and on and on…. Needs to be MUCH more of a stigma and should never be legal to drink at all and then drive.. too many other options now, as mentioned, with Uber and other rideshare services .. Feel free to have fun, get plastered , embarrass the shite out of urself, who care- but never ever mix alcohol with vehicles .
