Is it because of creating the genre of "california beach music"? I know who they are, and that they were very popular back in the day. Just curious if there is more to it than that. I'm fairly ignorant regarding the group, though i do recognize their presence in pop culture.
They were the American Beatles. They modernized American rock/pop. Pet sounds is probably the most influential American album of all time.

In your 40s and only know good vibrations? I probably wouldn't admit that.

He was a phenomenal composer and his harmony arrangements are unmatched to this very day.

RIP.
It has been a few years since I’ve seen it, but I recall the movie about him “Love & Mercy” being really good.

Lyin' in bed just like Brian Wilson did
Brian Wilson dropped in on the Barenaked Ladies during one of their recording sessions. He listened to the new stuff they were working on and performed his version of their song "Brian Wilson".

The Beatles and The Beach Boys were huge influences on each other.

If you're older like me, the end is coming fast. As I tell my fiends and family, I am living on dog time now and not a chihuahua.

It definitely is. Dano and Cusak play him so well.
