Think of all the libs that want to get guns (inanimate objects) out of people’s houses, because “they are dangerous.” Why is there no campaign to get these dogs out of people’s houses?

One time some dude who came clean my AC unit tried to pet my dogs (they don't try to hurt anyone, but they don't just go to anyone either and if people they are not familiar with try to pet them they will bark at them).. Anyway, this dude goes on telling me about how he owns two pit bulls.

And was like "my pits are the sweetest dog. You see how your dogs are barking at me? Mine would never do that. They will let anyone come up to them and pet them. My little girl, she is 3.. And she will pull their ears and grab on them and they just love her to death. They just lay there while she does it".

Then he goes on about how they started to gain weight so he didn't feed them for almost a week because someone told him the best way to make them lose weight was to not feed them until they couldn't shite anymore... or had nothing left to shite.

I was just thinking "so were you letting your kid play with the dogs when you were starving them?" Anyway, this is the type of idiots who own pit bulls unfortunately.

Seems eerily similar to some other statistic.

For some reason, people want to defend the breed and get all bent out of shape when the news media reports actual statistics.

Its probably the same people who get all bent out of shape when actual criminal statistics are reported.

. If anyone should own them it should be responsible people who are aware of what the dog is capable of and will not allow the dog to be in situations where it will have an opportunity to do what they are capable of.

This line of thinking is just WRONG. It is NOT the fault of the owner when a pit bull does what out bulls are bred to do

I know two people who were very good owners and thought their pits were the nicest, sweetest dogs. One of the dogs was a puppy when they got him.

At age five the dog got away from the owner so he could make a 50-yard dash to attack a damn basset hound. It took 3 adults, including the pit owner, to get that dog off the hound. The pit had NEVER shown any aggressive behavior till then.

The other one I knew had been adopted as a 2-year-old. My buddy LOVED that dog. He was well-trained and by all accounts was a good good. One day, for no reason, he suddenly lunged at my buddy's fiance. He literally tore her top lip off.

Both dogs are now gone, but the damage they did remains. Both owners were in shock, 'cause "...he never acted that way before."

Here's the deal: not all pits are killers. The problem is there is no way to tell which ones are until AFTER the fact.

It's like if you had a bag of 100 M&Ms, but 2 of those candies will kill you if you eat them. The problem is you have no way of knowing which two are the deadly ones. You still gonna eat those M&Ms?

You have put your finger on the problem, but some won't be able to accept it. Every dog owner knows that different breeds have different characteristics that have been bred into them over centuries. It just so happens that pits have been bred specifically to kill.

Pretty much the same thing happened to a friend of mine. They had another dog before the pit...well trained and well behaved non-pit. They raised the pit from a pup and it had no reason to act aggressive. The first time it got loose from pulling a leash out of my friend's hand, it tried to kill the first dog he saw and bit its owner.
