Interesting.
Supposedly pot counteracts the eye test when you're drunk, making your eyes move smoothly.

I always figured they would need this before they even legalized weed anywhere. I constantly brought that up on here as the only issue I had with legalization. But people kept telling me that they must already have it.

In AZ if you have ANY pot in your system you get a DUI so this may not be the worst thing. You could have smoked a month ago and you get a DUI, its such a fricked up law.

It will probably be as inaccurate as the portable breahtalyzers used by police officers today.
The margin of error on the machines used today are a problem, states don't always mandate the use of the most current technology, the creators of the machines rely on contracts from government agencies so I don't necessarily trust their specs on the models, and the officers hardly ever calibrate the machines or store them properly.
But, yeah, whatever. Sounds great.

If it detects thc from a week before, its bullshite imo. If it only detects thc from a few hours ago, its good imo
I'd assume it works in the window of your typical saliva test that can see back about 12 hours on average (thanks google).
It's not like a piss test that tests for metabolites that stay in your system far longer than active THC does.
i would still be fricked. I smoke pot almost every night. Boom - commute to work busted for driving stoned.

Why is it necessary to have a test before it can be legal? What is the test for prescription medication? What is the test for OTC cold medication and/or cough syrup that makes you drowsy? Do you believe that these things should also be illegal until there is a test?

I believe this. But slow drivers are really annoying.

Wonder is this will work.
Alcohol breathalyzers don't work for shite.

You can bet Taco Bell will vigorously lobby against this implementation. Imagine the losses they will take if stoners can't hit the drive thru for some 4th meal.

Y'all's laws are fricking ridiculous and unfair, and in a just world, Phoenix's sheriff Joe Arpaio would be put in a pit with hungry feral dogs and eaten alive. The man is human garbage and would have more than willingly led Jews to their ovens if he grew up in Nazi Germany.

Will this be able to differentiate between being high while driving and simply having marijuana in your system?
That is all that a breathalyzer does. Just the amount in your system.

First thing I wondered. Doesn't specify, which means we aren't as close as I'd like to be regarding drug tests at work or as a tool in an officers hand. They are relying on the blood test for true results.

i've always brought it up here or in conversations with others ... i'm all for legalization, but i want to hammer people who are driving under the influence of anything (esp the dumbfricks who claim being stoned doesn't impair driving) or using it in inappropriate places, similar to alcohol ... i admit i didn't read the article, so i assumed the device could detect how stoned someone is ... i would think that the inventors wouldn't claim some breakthrough if the only thing it reveals is the presence of thc in your system ...
but they may have been stoned ...

Just means both of you are a product of the scare that was reefer madness and passed on from generation to generation. Think for yourselves, if you can.

This could also be used by employers who don't necessarily care if their employees smoke in their free time, but don't want high employees at work. Now they either have to choose to test for it or not.
Yeah......someone didn't read the link.
