After banning fraternities and other student organizations from tailgating in houses and on the Parade Grounds, LSU administrators announced late Friday that the pre-game partying would be allowed elsewhere on campus.
Frat houses and the Parade Grounds are still off limits, but the Greek organizations can set up tailgates elsewhere on the campus – provided they register with the university, according to a letter LSU lawyers sent to the fraternities.

The organizations will still have to abide by the rules, such as no commonly shared sources, like beer kegs or bowls of jungle juice, and alcohol can only be consumed by people over the age of 21. The university is working with the social organizations over how the handle Homecoming against Mississippi State University on Oct. 20. Because the event attracts a lot of alumni and donors, LSU officials are working out how the tailgating parties can be held in fraternity and sorority houses.

Now the Pikes can spike drinks in the open instead of behind closed doors

Looks like the people who predicted that fraternities are now going to be shoved into the middle of existing tailgate locations were 100% right. This is going to really piss off a whole bunch of people. It’s almost like the administration can’t get out of their own way on this issue.

God help the people who put on family tailgates, this is going to get really interesting.

So why are the parade grounds off limits?

The admin fences off the parade grounds with workers checking tailgate passes at entrances, much like parking passes. LSU sells these tailgate spots to corporations.
Basically pushing out the students to profit off of the real estate. Follow the $$

As long as they don't all congregate in the same place, it probably won't be that bad.

They are just allowing the Greeks to do what they knew they werent going to be able to enforce. There was no way they could practically enforce a ban on Greek tailgating anywhere on campus, but they can enforce a ban on houses and Parade Grounds.
