Brake Tag / Inspection Sticker side question...

I've never heard them called brake tags until the recent legislation started hitting the news. All my life I've heard "inspection stickers" and nothing else. Is it a generation thing? I'm 44, by the way.
Am I alone in this?

NOLA thing. Orleans has their own tags, and in the 70-90's they actually made you slam the brakes part of the check.

Ever been to Orleans or Jefferson parish?

That was part of every inspection sticker in Louisiana. The guy performs a brake check when he gets in it and pulls it forward some. That’s part of the reason why they get in the vehicle.

They were supposed to all be doing this. Through the decades of my childhood, they weren’t allowed to do inspections if it was raining and this was the reason.

One of many ways New Orleans is different from the rest of the state.
Just like “making groceries”.
Just like “making groceries”.

Sorry. I live in the free state of MS that has eliminated inspection stickers. can't speak to it.

That carried forward until they got rid of them.

Did they eliminate the fees? Because Texas eliminated the stickers, but we still have the fees.

Yep. As far as inspections go.

From the French, faire, to do, or to make.
As in, “After making groceries at Dorignac’s, we went by my momma’s house on N. Labarre.”

It’s a New Orleans thing.
I’ve got a bigger question. If emission tests are required to retain Federal funding, how is it only five Parishes have to tote the load? Can such an unequal application of the rules be constitutionally supported.
They will fail you on an older vehicle with a code that doesn’t immediately indicate an emissions issue, but might in the future. Give you thirty or sixty days to do unnecessary expensive repairs on a possibility of a future problem.
