A Baton Rouge television reporter was fired Tuesday several hours after confronting U.S. Sen. David Vitter about his 2007 admission that he had committed a “very serious sin” in connection with a prostitution ring several years earlier.
Tuesday’s confrontation took place in the parking lot of the Secretary of State’s office after Vitter signed the papers to officially qualify for the governor’s race. The reporter, Derek Myers, attempted to question Vitter as the senator was walking to a waiting car with his wife, Wendy. Vitter ignored Myers’ questions.
In an interview with The Advocate Wednesday, Myers said he believed he was fired because the Vitter campaign threatened to pull its campaign commercials from NBC 33/Fox 44 News. He said he reached this conclusion because of a conversation that was overheard in the newsroom Tuesday.

Myers, 23, arrived to Baton Rouge three weeks ago after working for the ABC news affiliate in Ocala, Fl. Originally from Ohio, Myers said he takes pride in his aggressive style. His Twitter account says he is nicknamed “bulldog” in the newsroom.

Too bad he wasn't fried. He'd make some good bacon.

Seems like a fair question for him to ask to me. Everybody seems to be ignoring this.

Wouldn't surprise me if true. Also, it sadly won't matter. I don't see a scenario where he doesn't win. Enjoy your diaper wearing Governor, Louisiana.

If people believe this they are weak-minded.

He probably gave himself that nickname

In the parking lot afterward, Myers scurried after Vitter to ask whether he was still frequenting prostitutes and also asked, Sen. Vitter, don’t you think the people deserve answers?
This is why you got fired, Derek. Your job is to report the news, not make it.

I guess it's "fair" in the respect that it's accurate and a matter of public record.
However, it offered no journalistic value and was just bullshite "Gotcha" ambush "journalism" at a time when he was (presumably) not accepting questions and walking with his wife.
In short, he was a jerkoff that sowed the wind and reaped the whirlwind.

I'm surprised Catholic High let him out of class for this. They usually keep a tight reign on freshmen.
