A Baton Rouge mother who beat her 2-year-old son with a belt so severely suffered possible neurological impairment has been booked into Parish Prison on counts of attempted first-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to juveniles, the sheriff’s office said.
Samantha Snell, 29, 8562 Rush Ave., told deputies she’d beaten the boy Monday “as a form of discipline for getting water out of the refrigerator,” East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said.

Staff at the hospital reported that when the child arrived he was unresponsive and having seizures. Medical personnel told deputies the child suffered fractures to the skull, rib, tibia, right foot and hip and that the fractures were at different healing stages and were the result of “non-accidental trauma,” Hicks said.
The young boy remained hospitalized late Tuesday in critical, guarded condition, Hicks said.

If you have to get a belt out for a two year-old, you're doing it wrong.

Am I the only one that finds this punishment reasonable for getting water out of the fridge?
Kid was on the wrong path.

Snell admitted to hitting the child Monday with a belt as a form of discipline. She claims the boy fell to the floor and hit his head on the tile floor. She said he stopped eating and was in and out of consciousness for the next two days so she took him to the hospital for treatment. Snell also admitted to biting the child on several occasions as a form of discipline.
Actually no, she let him seize, pass out, and starve for 2 days before bringing him to the hospital. She only admitted to hitting him when questioned.

I went to a local school today to talk about mentoring with the counselor. It was a pretty heart breaking conversation. The counselor started crying and I felt like it. She said all the children from these inner city homes wanted was for someone to give a shite about them and she said the amount of students who were from abusive homes is astronomical.
After reading a story like this, I can't help but feel a grim determination to help al least influence the life of at least one person.

Dear Crazy Lady,
You should have aborted the child when you had the chance. No one would've given a shite then.
