Typical DBE project results: Other contractors on the job take up the slack or work around the incompetent DBE who got the job based primarily on pigment.

How is that in the best interest of the tax payers if a minority own business owner subs out the work to another contractor and keeps a markup to themselves? Doesn’t that just make the work that more expensive while watering down accountability (read: finger pointing) at the same time?

Broome has never tried to hide where her true loyalties lie. She knows who butters her bread, and she panders to them at every turn.

Never forget that this woman's administration published a report that was as openly racist as anything I've ever seen. If you haven't read it, then you should.

Yet Gravy still swears NBR has no representation.

South Baton Rouge receives absolutely nothing more than the basics from the city government and doesn't bitch. Just like the "omg we don't know our police officers' names" whine, as if I know the guys who patrol my neighborhood. Hell, I can't even tell you the last time I saw a cop in my neighborhood that wasn't paid overtime to be there.

That's honestly our best hope. I fear without Kip the runoff will again be SWB vs. someone who only has appeal to white people >40 years old.

It's tricky finding someone who can come in 1st or 2nd in the primary without completely alienating half the Parish - and Kip was closest to that.

Our second best hope - SWB keeps doing what she's doing and cuts off all progress downtown and mid-city and drives that vote to the right (but hopefully not to the point of regression). This is a tough sell as a lot of these people are trending younger and still buy into identity politics and white guilt, but these were the swing voters in the past election.

Yep. That's what it's all about for people like Gary Chambers, Denise Marcelle, Silky Slim, Ted James, and the other racists who make up Broome's inner circle. It's so laughable that he is considered to be a "community activist" when all he wants to do is cause more racial division. None of these people give a rat's arse about making Baton Rouge a better place to live for all residents.

Assuming that's the result of the "study," there's nothing inherently wrong with it--as long as those businesses get the job done.

But 300 grand. WTF? I could've told you a bigger contractor with a better and established reputation will be able to outbid smaller, up-start or relatively new businesses.

The heavy, heavy emphasis will be on minority-owned businesses. They just threw in the other bullshite to make it look legitimate.

Another question:

Can Kip come in 1st/2nd in a Primary that features:

1) SWB

2) Kip Holden

3) Captain Conservative! (some 55yr old white guy with a Southern drawl running on a solely tax-cut platform and mentions Christ at all possible opportunities)

4) Mega BLM Activist (who complains that SWB isn't doing enough for NBR, no matter what ).

5) The Republican Socialist! (younger white guy who's mostly liberal, but runs as Republican because in the deep South Democrat is a synonym for black).

I agree. With all due respect to Bodie White and his supporters, he is not what Baton Rouge needs. He would likely cut off or greatly reduce funding to the downtown and mid-city revitalization projects and use that money elsewhere in the parish, outside of the city limits. If you live inside the city limits of BR, and are white/under 40, then a candidate like Bodie White probably wasn't very appealing to you.

To defeat Broome, it will take a candidate whose appeal is broad enough to cross political and racial lines, as well as pull in the under 40 white voters that may have voted for Broome last time.

White people who voted for Broome are worse than the whites who voted for John Bel because of his honor code bullshite. We could see exactly what Broome was from a mile away.

Baton Rouge is a city with a black population that is 100% in line with the Democrats. There were very few black people crossing the aisle in the last election. There were voting precincts in the last mayoral election in which Bodi didn't receive more than one or two votes. There was not a single precinct in which Broome didn't receive at least a couple dozen votes.

White people are not a voting bloc by any means, and whoever runs against Broome will have to bring the retards back home.

Is Kip actually considering running again or is this a TD fantasy?

I think the next election will be between Broome and Watson, personally. Although I could certainly see Delgado fricking shite up.

I believe so, if he runs a smart campaign and appeals to both sides as a business-friendly moderate. I hate dirty politics, but he also absolutely has to stress every ridiculously incompetent thing that Broome has done, and do it every chance he gets.

Baton Rouge Population
2000 227,818
2010 229,493 0.7% increase
Est. 2016 227,715 -0.8% decrease

EBR Population
2000 412,852
2010 440,171 6.6% increase
Est. 2016 447,037 1.6% increase

Despite all the money and all the effort to revitalize Downtown and Mid City, Baton Rouge's population has been stagnant this century.

EBR Parish has grown some, but it is slowing down.

These numbers aren't good, and no one is really doing anything to improve them.

I would imagine that crime and crappy schools are two of the biggest reasons why people of both races are leaving the city. I'm not sure that anyone can save the EBR Parish school system, but I believe that the recent spike in criminal activity is directly related to Broome's anti-law enforcement stance.

Can we just agree to give city/parish money directly to the black folks, without letting them frick up government work projects? The city/parish is already inefficient enough.

Since the outcome of this study is completely predetermined, I'm pretty sure I could make up and cherry pick enough "facts" to back it up for no more than $150,000.
