Five pages and no Sambo's on acadien thruway? I swear my cousin ate there so much he had his own table.
The Village
Ground Patti-great corn on the cob.
Some small to go Chinese place on North Nicholson can't remember the name, but while working for my Uncle while at LSU I would pick up Chinese for the whole warehouse crew (all black) and they loved it.

Pinetta's is on Perkins, across from Rock'n Sake & Jimmy John's. It's still there.

Nooley's
There's a Nooley's in Galvez on Hwy 44 near 42. Still got good po-boys & sandwiches.
I'm confused why y'all keep saying Brewbachers. Is it just one location that y'all are sad about, or is the current Brewbachers different from the old one? There's still 4 locations around BR & Gonzales. I go to the one in Gonzales pretty regularly, and it's still pretty good. I used to love the plate lunches at the one on Nicholson.

Arzi’s on Nicholson.
I lived right behind it, and ate there several times a week.

Everything was great at Ground Patti....Piccadilly at Bon Marche and Westmorland had waiters in white coats to carry your trays, and an organist on Sundays.
Romano's Pak & Save on Government was kind of similar to Tony's Seafood back in the day.

There was a Sambo's on Acadian, across from TJ Ribs which was Bombay Bicycle Club prior to that.
Sambo's changed the name to Denny's and now Mestizo's is in the location.

The original China Express on Coursey was great...When the owner sold out 10 years or so ago their food turned crappy.

Muffaletta's hot tamales.
North Blvd. at North Foster.
My dad use to sell those from a cart in that area. They'd sell enough to eat a few and still have a dollar in their pocket. Win-win for a kid too young to work a 'real' job.

Anyone ever try Chicago's on Government (became Doe's)?
That place had one helluva fried oyster Caesar salad.
