Further, kids are now being made to wear a "scarlet letter" to show that they're not participating. Can you imagine the peer pressure now? Children are going to be begging their parents for a vaccine so they don't have to wear a mask at school.

I emailed the principal this very thing. My kid went to dance camp at USM, and dance camp for kids from elementary school is going on right now and NOT ONE frickING MASK. Like does covid know not to pass through each other during dance camp?

Let's be honest, they do have parents over a barrel to the extent they know alternative options may be limited. It's either homeschool (may happen); public school (won't happen) or move outside BR (likely won't happen).

So the best leverage may be to very loudly and directly tell the diocese they won't be getting another penny (outside of what is mandated for tuition) in donations. No cash in the baskets a mass. No monthly check to the church. Nothing. Make no mistake, you don't build and maintain grandiose churches with good deeds as capital. The Church wants MONEY first and foremost

What if hundreds of parents take their kids out of catholic schools over it. Will that possibly change policy? Obviously history has shown the catholic church doesn't really bow to public pressure but I think hitting the pocketbook does more to influence these kind of decisions than we give them credit for.

On one hand I understand why they are considering this. The govt idiots will shut them down later if they don't do this and they will lose more money than if they comply and run almost as normal. What they are underestimating, however, is how fed up the people paying the bills are. When you try and appease one faction without considering that people will leave that disagree, it is short-sided. By protecting the business, they lose business. At the end of the day, most of their client base is done with masks and have accepted the risks either by taking the vax or not.

They know that no one is going to do this, that’s why they don’t give a frick about anyone being mad about it.

Not surprised as the Catholic church has always been like a dictatorship! Make up rules as they go depending on who is the acting Pastor.
Sorry you feel this way. I go to mass several times a week and have never encountered this. I love being Catholic.

So this is fast moving apparently. My wife just got a call from another parent looking at canceling contracts and starting a home school program. They have 7 families already interested from Mercy and STM. Apparently there are several dozen networks of parents that do this on line in BR already. Who knew. Of course interest and actually pulling the trigger are two things.

Just curious, is there an facebook group or something where this is galvanizing? My family is interested and I know about 6-7 other families that would jump onboard.

I’m interested to see how this works.

You going to provide a fake card for your children?

Maybe this is going to prompt people to move to a different state with great public schools

Not to mention the money that family would be saving by not paying tuition.

The Catholic Church has always been liberal especially here in America. I had a cousin who recently quit the seminary because he couldn’t believe how liberal it was.
You’re thinking of the Jesuits. I went to Loyola and discovered that.

I’m in the process of doing this now.

Anyone that has the ability to get out of Louisiana should IMO

Not this “study” again.

I hate masks but this isn’t the way to combat them. It shouldn’t be that masks are dangerous. It should be that no viruses were detected, meaning they don’t work.

I know our neighborhood has a large Homeschooling group, but I don't have the particulars yet.

You are an absolute garbage poster. Pathetic.

Once again, you know NOTHING. There are many amazing priests out there so just stop with your usual bullshite. I have gone to several for spiritual counseling and prayer after my parents died, and those priests helped me tremendously. They are real people with loving, kind hearts and are human.

I am catholic.

The Catholic Church, the Diocese, and anyone else can kiss my arse when it comes to the CHINA VIRUS or VACCINATIONS. I will NOT participate. No mask. No vaccine. My body, my choice. Kids don't die from this, so going along with the teachers union and the Democrat Governor is going to be bad for business.

One thing I know about Catholics, they really really like their money. It is their #1 priority. I hope everyone pulls out of these private schools and they all go under with their arrogant policies. Id like to see them ALL FAIL.

Hitching your wagon to the Teachers Union and the Democrats is the last straw. Moslesting kids and covering it up. Saying absolutely nothing about the riots all last summer. Standing up to government during the bogus pandemic, to keep church services. What has the Catholic Church done for you? NOTHING.
These people invented the guilt trip, and the NFL has hijacked their day of the week. I'm done with it.
