Nope. The city council actually violated state law. A public entity can not under the LA constitution donate anything of value to anyone. IF you sell a piece of land worth 200k for 10k you are donating 190k of value to that person.

You gotta relax buddy.

Guy buys land on the cheap. Land that was providing no benefit. Guy develops the land. Businesses purchase/rent space and pay property taxes along with whatever other myriad of taxes they are stuck with. Consumer pays sales taxes.

Maybe we get something good out of it. But let's be real, the city wastes the aforementioned taxes on traffic studies.

Why does the one instance of government officials squandering public resources excuse the other? They're both wasteful, wrong, and should be criticized, especially as the voters of EBR are about to be asked to approve a new $450M property tax for road improvements.
