The pressure of becoming an O-T baller are increasing at an exponential rate.

Poor guy. Can't fault someone for trying.

Police want the public to keep a watchful eye out for a man accused of altering customer receipts at the restaurant where he worked to increase his tips.

Greater Baton Rouge Crime Stoppers reported John Luke Robbins, 25, is wanted by the Baton Rouge Police Department on fraud charges.

He is 5-foot-9 and weighs 180 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes.

Great! Thanks! Do you think it might help the public "keep a watchful eye" if they told the public at what fricking restaurant this bozo is/was employed?

If the restaurant owner doesn't want bad press, then try to keep this from being publicized. But if the purposes of doing so is to "help the public", then help the public by letting us know where to avoid this jackass

It'll probably get out in this thread if it stays on the 1st page long enough.

It is where you ring in drinks for your first table, then move them from check to check throughout the night. Each table pays for them.

Or so I've heard.

We know it’s not Sonic since you have to tip in cash.

We can at least narrow it down to a restaurant in South Baton Rouge..we know that much because there was an actual tip

If you can't afford to be cheated on your tip, don't dine out.

It probably does, but they luck out because not everyone's as petty as me
I NEVER check the itemized receipt, nor do I reconcile the amount with what's ultimately charged on my account.
So if someone is adding a dollar at a time, they may very well get away with it for a while...until that one customer.

Floating is moving any item paid for by cash to another tab. Drinks, soups, salads, etc the waiters make themselves. $2 a drink moved around 2-3 times a night and you made an extra $6-10.

Large chains software won't let you split a tab without manager approval so it's s pita.

One place I worked had a VIP card that was 10% off. I worked with a bunch of friends and we had 2-3 of them between us. If anyone had a large tab over $150 paid in cash you'd get the VIP card discount from a manager and book instant 10% extra.

Tons of ways servers can skim money. I never stole from customers. Only from the dickhead owners, and rarely at that. But it happened all the time.

God people are worthless scum bag pieces of shite. And servers get all up in arms when they are treated like shite or aren't given a 25% tip.

Right - we called it rolling drinks. Only way management caught on to it was to look when you opened the ticket to see how long it was open. We justified it by saying the customer isn’t affected, just the restaurant, and the restaurant charged 2.35 for each beverage which is robbery in itself so somewhere in there was a slight justification. Or so I’ve heard.

o haiii

I don't assume that it's done with malicious intent- it's only happened a couple of times so it could be an honest mistake. Either way, I don't care because I only have to deal with the card company, not the restaurant.

Kudos for managers noticing and reporting it.

Worked at Chili's on Siegen in college in early 2000's. They changed our computer system to where you had to close the check from the table before you could open a new one on that table. What I would do is when you got a large party (10+) that had split checks, I would only ring up one drink and the rest waters. Split the check enough times to charge everyone for that drink and their food. Only need one to pay in cash and it would be an extra $10 or so for that table.

Or you scoop cash tickets.

When all handwritten old school high end place, if a ticket disappears, so does the money.

This is why you always keep your second receipt. So you can 'prove' what tip you left. Not really but it's better than leaving it.

I knew of this happening, and not that rarely either. Some piece of shite would do it almost anytime someone left both receipts.

I does happen a lot. Most of the time good mangers catch it then discreetly fire the server before it becomes a news story. Usually it is not very large amounts of money. It’s like the scam they ran in Office Space. A bunch of Little increments that add up to a larger amount.

I'd be surprised if management noticed. My guess is they got multiple complaints from customers. He was probably drunk or high one night after already being warned, and did it multiple times to where they decided to call the police.

That's how it would of needed to happen in my day.
