If you're doing the whole bowtie + shorter/tighter pants with crazy socks thing, pass.

If you're just a good-lookin' snazzy dresser that's switching it up a bit (but not all the time), it's okay.

ETA: The boxer dropper is to find a woman that is willing to have sex

Unless you are in a uniform, most people dress to be looked at, so we all do that in some form.

If you are in a stuffy setting, a change of pace (while not being out of the office standard) is a good way to shake things up.

Couple of reasons I did it.

My son wears one, and he has been trying to get me to do it.

Wore one with a tux this past Saturday, and decided it wasn't horrible.

And the wife likes it.

All seem like good reasons. I live in a wine region, and between the seasonal release weekends, and opening day horse races, that about does it for my bowtie game. But quite a few people do it for those occassions, so I am not the only one.

Bow ties are clownish to me unless with a tux.

A bow-tie with a seersucker suit is awesome. I might wear mine tomorrow.

Bow ties are the cursive writing of neck wear.

Some like me, can pull it off. Others should stick to block printing with a crayon.

This.... When I wear neckwear, 90% of the time it is a bow tie. I probably have 30-40 bow ties and I find them easier to tie than a long tie. I have gotten some slack for wearing them, but generally the people who run their mouth about bow ties are the same guys who think that monochromatic is a good look or that square toe shoes are sometimes acceptable. Quality women love a man in a bow tie. If they don't, they are probably attracted to guys named Jody.

Just remember, the boos always come from the cheap seats.

It depends on the occasion. If there are other people wearing them, definitely wear one. If you’re wearing it to work every day, you’re trying way too hard.

You have to be very masculine, then it's great. If someone is frail with a small jaw, it's geeky in a bad way

Not everyone can pull it off.

I've moved away from them in recent years but in the past I frequently received compliments.

Much like jorts and earrings, it’s a look that black guys can pull off well, compared to white guys.

I don’t like it. It’s usually a signal for a male who I don’t want to trust.

It’s ok for anyone under 10 and anyone over 65. Simple as that.

It's Bow Tie or No tie baw. Everyone knows you aren't in the club unless you can actually tie a bow tie and not have a clip on.

Oh, I'm tying it, bro.

Sounds like you two should just go ahead and get a room.
