Hmmm, actually looks like a place you’d want to visit.

no shite...instead of 15 million visitors a year we could have over 20 million if they would just take out the garbage

It's true. I've never seen a photo, video, or witnessed in person dry concrete on or around Bourbon St.

And we act like China’s wet markets are so gross.

A poem I wrote some years ago

Une Ode De L’Odeur

You can kidnap me,
blindfold me,
take me away
for a number of days
to a far distant land,
but if you return me
to one certain place,
with my bound, sightless face,
I’ll still know where I stand.

Better shove plugs
in my squinting ears, too,
as the sounds of this street
would too soon tell the tale,
but the best give-away
to this mystery and veil
is the smell, night and day,
that would turn the dead pale.

Inside your nostrils,
a fingerprint scent,
a strong and indelible
stirred cesspool mess
of horse feed and hayseeds,
mule stools and piss,
hair spray and hair pomade,
milk soured thick, sewer lines,
patchouli, bags of refuse,
bikers’ pipes, beer, sweat,
and cheap, sweet perfume,
sticky red puddles
of hurricane puke; and
you won’t smell the Bourbon,
but it’s there for you.
