I just had a big glass with some cookies last night, but I really only do that once a week. If not for cereal I only consume one glass of milk a week.

My girls drink it alot though.

Why aren't people drinking milk as much these days? Milk is fricking delicious. We go through about 2 gallons a week in my house and we don't buy soft drinks. I read people are drinking less but I don't know anyone personally that has stopped drinking milk, unless they're lactose intolerant.

Show me the teats on an almond. This explains a lot.

Don't really drink much milk in the house, usually buy it by the quart so it won't go bad.

Half and Half or Heavy Cream for coffee and butter for cooking.

I have 4 boys. 15/12/10/9.

I buy 8 gallons of milk every 2 weeks.

Don't tell me milk consumption is down.

Scruffy buys that hyper-pasteurized milk that stays good for over a month.
I buy that stuff too.

Your fun fact of the day:

Scientific American
quote:

Organic milk lasts longer because producers use a different process to preserve it. According to the Northeast Organic Dairy Producers Alliance, the milk needs to stay fresh longer because organic products often have to travel farther to reach store shelves since it is not produced throughout the country.

The process that gives the milk a longer shelf life is called ultrahigh temperature (UHT) processing or treatment, in which milk is heated to 280 degrees Fahrenheit (138 degrees Celsius) for two to four seconds, killing any bacteria in it.

Compare that to pasteurization, the standard preservation process. There are two types of pasteurization: "low temperature, long time," in which milk is heated to 145 degrees F (63 degrees C) for at least 30 minutes*, or the more common "high temperature, short time," in which milk is heated to roughly 160 degrees F (71 degrees C) for at least 15 seconds.

The different temperatures hint at why UHT-treated milk lasts longer: Pasteurization doesn’t kill all bacteria in the milk, just enough so that you don't get a disease with your milk mustache. UHT, on the other hand, kills everything.

That's my question as well. Why are people drinking less? When I was kid, it was a win-win in our house. We loved the taste of it and we were drinking something healthy.
Are the health benefits not what we once thought?

I, alone, drink a gallon per week. Breakfast every morning and with dessert at night. Sometimes with a sandwich for lunch. I've always liked milk.
The Borden's creamery on Florida Blvd. was a place that my Aunts would take me for an ice cream sundae. I liked hot fudge on vanilla ice cream.

Sucks. They made the best cottage cheese.

Does this mean Cackie Lerille has to close the Borden's ice cream place on Johnston in Laffy? I hope not.

I've been tasked with hiring the wranglers for the local Almond round up and trail drive. We're planning to load them up on rail cars in Kansas City. Be leaving from Abilene ahead of the snow. So, can I count you to be one of Almond Boys? Bring your branding iron and your shootin' iron too!

A lot of people have been convinced nut milks are healthier. I don't know if that's true, but I switched to almond milk a few years ago when I started eating a low carb diet. Almond milk has a few less grams of carbs than whole milk does.

Still, a gallon of almond milk lasts me 3 weeks or so.

My guess is more non-dairy varieties entering the market; some people are starting to move away from dairy due to lactose intolerance/general inflammation caused by dairy.
