I have literally never heard the word booksack in my life. I went to school in Kansas, Kentucky, and Georgia

Not sure when kids started carrying backpacks to school, but in the rural areas that I grew up, it was after I graduated high school. Growing up, the only time we used backpacks was camping or hiking.
I never saw anyone carrying a backpack around a campus until 1978 when I was a freshman at LSU. Of course, now, every kid has one.

I grew up in PA in the 1960's--NOBODY used a backpack. We called them bookbags and we carried them. I remember when backpacks came around and I remember thinking "DOH!!! why didn't they think of that when I was a kid??"

Book sack is a Louisiana thing and it's stupid as shite. It's not a fricking sack. And backpack sounds ghey, so the correct answer is bookbag
