Go to a local farmer's market/produce stand (I think in BR it was Southside produce) and buy some fresh green peanuts, take them home, and boil them with a lot of salt/Tony's whichever you like more. You can also make a bunch extra and just put them in zip locks and freeze for later.

When I moved to BR for school I was surprised how many of my friends had never had them. I am from MS and my grandpa raised me on fresh boiled peanuts

Nor do I. I've tried several times, but I damn near throw up everytime I try them. It's a texture thing. They stink to high heaven too. My oldest son loves them.

You can save a lot of time in a pressure cooker. Only about an hour to cook. Probably even the Instant Pot.

And if anyone (I’m sure most have) has seen We Are Marshall, when Red stops for gas and hears the radio about the plane crash he asks the attendant for the boiled peanuts and the guy says “help yourself. Regular on the left and Cajun on the right.”

Now I know damn good and well that there weren’t any Cajun flavored boiled peanuts in rural West Virginia in 1970.

No lie, buddy. Is it a southern thing or do they do them all over the place?

There was nothing like after church on Sunday and pop breaking out the big pot.

Tony’s sells them.

I grew a row this summer and boiled my own and have a few bags left in the freezer. First time I’ve grown them. They were Virginia jumbos but I really like the small Spanish peanuts and I’ll plant them this year. They take a long time to grow.

My grandma would eat the ones out the can from the grocery store
She said they were good, maybe try those next time

Circle K uses Peanut Patch from the large cans. Just like from Walmart.
They aren't usually terrible. My kids love them and I'll eat some of theirs on road trips and such.

You musta got a bad batch.

Tonys boiled peanuts are nasty. They don't use the big green peanuts and most of the time they taste like they were boiled in plain water

I do that too.

You know Patel probably does that to his own boiled peanuts at home. He's just not wasting the good shite on mere customers.
