This is such a misinformed narrative but keeps being repeated.
The bearcats/MRAPs are an unfortunate necessity in today’s age. They are a purely defensive piece of equipment. They provided cover to Dallas PD officers while walking the streets during the shooting, the same with BRPD. They also double as a high capacity rescue vehicle during a flood or other natural disaster as most can hold 10-20 people.
The people bitching about police moving with the times and stying ahead or at least on par with the curve are the same ones that think police should still have a .38 revolver for their sidearm.

Zone 5 on the police scanner mobile app says multiple reports of a prison break. Also multiple reports of zone 6 riots. Anyone have info?

I have a hard time believing a vehicle designed to shield soldiers from IED's is somehow a necessity to patrol the streets of any American city.
