again, you keep straying from the topic.

i voted for Trump’s policies. Not because i like the man. That’s the difference. You can’t even name me what policies you voted for in 2020. Not that it would matter, because it’s all changed since he was a candidate.

You keep drinking that “January 6th hearings” Koolaid tho. You and the other 19 people in the country that tune into that circus

This.

He’ll give us another 5 paragraph diatribe about his views on Trump, which don’t matter because Trump isn’t president.

The person OweO voted for is president.

He can’t defend Biden, so he’ll deflect.

It’s hilarious.

Ohhh. So now you don't like him. You just believed the bullshite he was saying.

And you right, I didn't vote for Biden because of his policies. The president is just one part of our government, but they are the face of the country. As sad as this sounds, I thought Joe Biden was/is a better representative of this country. And that says a lot.

What policies did Trump set in place that you voted for him to make sure he set them in place?

It doesn’t matter.

He isn’t president.

The man you voted for is.

The one with all of the policies you knew nothing about and probably can’t name.

The one who supposedly has completely different views than you do.

This is just too much.

You can't even argue are claim its fake news. He did the most anti-democracy thing a president can do. He tried to keep himself in power at any cost. That's what I voted against.

you voted against Trump in Nov 20 because of his actions in Jan 21

never once have i ever said i liked the man. he’s a wealthy elite turned politician. that ain’t my vibe, like at all.

as i’ve told you many many times, “I don’t vote for who would be a polite cordial dinner party guest. I vote for policy” You continue to ignore me having said that directly to you at least 2 dozen times in the last 6 years.

Weren’t there a couple that shut down fairly recently.

Yes, notably Shell Convent in P66 Alliance in Louisiana.

Unlikely. Shell Convent had been on the chopping block for quite some time. Shell couldn’t find a buyer. The refinery wasn’t in good shape before it shut down for 2 years. It’s in worse shape now.

P66 basically said the amount of money required to get the plant back up and running after Ida wasn’t worth it. They took a ton of damage, and it’s another refinery that already hadn’t been maintained very well or significantly modernized.

Once these plants go offline, all sorts of bad things start to happen. Rotating equipment seizes up. Process piping and vessels start to corrode. Water lines start to scale up from lack of flow. Every month the refinery sits idle means more piping and equipment needs to be replaced.

There are ways to mitigate some of this by basically continuing to “operate” the facility without making product.. not 100% sure if either refinery has taken that approach but my understanding is that they have not. Even if they had, it’s just a way to prolong the process.

Define "relatively quickly". Once you shut down the refinery, there are a lot of things that must be rebuilt. For instance, the refractory inside all of the furnaces almost certainly needs to be replaced just from the damage resulting from cooling off. You can't just call 1-800-FURNACE and have someone out there next week to do that. All the rotating equipment has to be inspected and possibly rebuilt, if it's even there and hasn't been sold or moved to another plant. Tanks have to be cleaned and inspected. Certain lines in the refinery will likely have to be replaced due to solidification of inventory or corrosion that happens once inventory stops flowing.

Even with a year to a year and a half of meticulous planning, normal maintenance turnarounds don't usually completely shut the plant down and still take a month or two to complete and get the refinery back up and prepared to process crude.

Bringing a refinery back from a complete shutdown is a monumental task, both in effort and cost. Then, when you're done, you still just have an old refinery.

And P66 Alliance closed earlier this year. I guess technically they have been out of service since Ida.

That was a 256K bpd facility.

That’s over 500K bpd lost just in Louisiana over a 2 year period.
