Seriously, yeah light skinned blacks are considered "better than" darker skinned blacks.
If a black person was black black, they got teased a lot. There was this girl in my class who was black as hell.. Everybody called her burnt cookie. I assumed it was because she was really black, but I asked a black dude who road the same bus as her, why and he told me they called her that as long as he knew her, when she was real young because she was so black.
Another dude who was real black, we called him vadar.. I never really thought about it until they were messing with him about how black he was and another black dude told him "bruh, you nicknamed after darth vadar. You can't get more black than that".
Light skinned blacks are more likely to get attention from white people. If a black girl is pretty, but kind of dark.. She wouldn't be as accepted by a white parent as a bright skinned attractive black girl (or vice versa in terms of sex).

That is what I would have used for the Termination, I could never use the N word as the reason for termination, it just doesn't stand up to HR and unemployment judges, but they usually don't just use the N word, they throw in motherfricker, fricker, or something similar.
