I think we need to go to West Africa and find the heirs of the people who sold the ancestors of contemporary black Americans into slavery and demand they tear down every monument ever made to any of their great people who did such callous acts, and while we're at it, demand reparations, too.

Lincoln fought the Civil War to keep from being known as the president that was in office when the Union split. He only freed slaves to remove them from the nation as he did not want to live with them. The man sent 450 freedman to Haiti where they all died then tried to send more to Panama to build a canal in exchange for some land in Central America for them to assimilate. Following the Emancipation Proclamation he was in talks with Britain to setup transport of the freed slaves back to Africa, this would have occurred if not for a Southern resurgence that made England think the South may win so they backed off talks.
