Biggest example of the human population being mostly idiots - Self checkout?

Seriously. This has been around for more than a decade. What is so difficult about it? You’d think scanning something and paying would be elementary yet most people act completely mind blown when at the machine.
I lose all hope in humanity every time I go to the grocery store.
And when you finally do figure out how to pay with cash, and it spits your change out, grab it and go. Don’t just stare at it like it’s going to chop your hand off if you touch it.

Hell I just scan half the shite and take the other half for my fee

I still use a lane with a person most of the time because of this.
Seems quicker in theory to use self check, but people make it more complicated than it should be.

Cause the general population are nitwits...
Go to any public place where the general population gathers such as the DMV or post office, you'll see the same level of stupidity and trashiness.

The large majority of people are so damn stupid.

The worst is at a grocery where the cart is stacked, it’s a fat old lady, and theres only a few spots. No bizness at the self checkout.

I give old people a break. I’m not talking about them. Just normal, everyday people.

Because its not always human error. These machines freak the frick out if you press "Skip Bagging"
Unexpected item in the bagging area

Self checkout can be bad but I think the masses of morons weaving in and out of traffic while they text is a bigger example. Both in number and damage caused as a result of.

Waiting in line behind self-checkout and
Waiting in line behind someone at a Coke Freestyle machine

I mostly agree with OP, but that self checkout at Winn Dixie would make even a genius look like an idiot. frick that thing

I don’t use self checkout, not because it’s hard, but because the cost of labor is literally built in to the price of the product i’m buying.
If i’m buying a bag of Doritos, for instance, and the price is $2.19- then maybe 50 cents of that price is labor costs (maybe more, maybe less, i’m Just trying to make a point).. so why should *I* do the labor for them, if they are already charging me for labor in the price of the product?? I’ve been saying for years, as soon as stores start offering customers a discount for using self checkout, THEN i will scan and bag my own groceries, but not before.

I honk at people daily at green lights because they are holding up traffic starring at their phones. Did it twice this morning actually

Grocery stores have enough trouble staying profitable with Amazon taking the higher margin general goods business.

Yep. Screw that. I do their job for them and get nothing in return.
Actually, since there are fewer jobs I get to pay higher taxes to make up for people who aren't working.
