I am talking about a nice in ground pool or a nice boat that has to be docked for the jokesters out there.

I had this debate with the wife last night. She grew up with her parents having a really nice boat on Lake Lewisville. To me, having, maintaining and docking a boat is a biggers status symbol than having a backyard pool.

The real wealthy have both. The losers have to chose one or the other.

You aren’t wealthy until you have a pool on your boat.

Of the two choices, the boat.

In reality, if that pool or boat is not docked at or near a second home then you are probably not wealthy.

Boat. Not a bass boat or small center console. I’m talking a real boat. One where you can fish, have a 5 star spread of food, and bitches tanning on the bow.

Depends on if you’re paying monthly or not.

When... Your boat has a pool. Just because you are "on" the water shouldn't mean you'd have to get "in" the water.

I dont know anything about financing a pool installation

That being said, unless its a yacht class, boats aren't impressive because folks can finance them 20+ years

Other than for the those who can afford a staff to maintain the pool, I generally consider pools as a sign of inexperienced new money.

We had one growing up and I swear my dad spent more time cussing at that pool than swimming in it because something was always wrong with it - pump, liner, chemicals. Just seemed like a huge headache and money pit for most of its life.

Paying for expensive things has absolutely nothing to do with how much money you actually have. There's plenty of broke boat owners out there, same with folks who are house poor.
