It's going to take decades and massive amounts of money to remediate that site.

Smitty's Supply Inc in going to be long gone and there won't be anyone but the State and Feds to pay for clean up. Like someone mentioned future Superfund site for sure. Probably going to be a priority even more so considering the Tangipahoa River is considered a Scenic River/ Outstanding Natural Resource Water.

Reading this made me think of the researcher from Southeastern who was “reassigned” for reporting her lake chemical results publicly

Lawsuits coming from this will be legit. There are people from miles around with oil all over their houses, farms, livestock, vehicles, ponds, etc.

Friend 10+ miles away have vehicles covered in oily residue….
This is going to be UGLY.

My parents and grandparents are buried at the Arcola / Roseland cemetery directly behind Smitty’s on Hill St.

Okay, that makes sense, I was thinking they just did lubricants. And man was that place packed tight with tanks.

Wind has been pretty calm for the most part. Had some gusts with the thunderstorms around lunch, but that may have been before the fire started. Just light winds now 3-4 mph intermittently.

I think there’s a lawsuit in there somewhere. Emotional duress? Try hard…get that cash.

Looks like the retaining walls have kept most of the oil within the tank battery area and most is burning off. No expert but I dont think site clean up will be that bad.

The lawsuits though will be massive.

Black smoke means they still haven’t found one yet. White smote means they found one.

You would think people would have remembered that since there was a papal election this year.

Do we have a full list of what occurred?

How it started?

Who was involved?

What type of product it was that triggered the incident to occur?

By now, aside from sharing pictures and gossiping some actual facts about the incident should have came out by now…

Why hasn’t Smitty’s made a statement to the public yet?
