NPSO: Detectives Searching for Armed Domestic Violence Suspect
Natchitoches, La. – Detectives with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Natchitoches man wanted in connection with a domestic violence investigation that occurred Thursday evening in the Oak Grove area near Natchitoches.
The suspect has been identified as Matthew H. Gowins, a 38-year-old white male. He is described as approximately 6’7” tall, weighing around 275 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Gowins was last seen operating a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu bearing Louisiana license plate 404BRD.
Gowins is wanted on a criminal arrest warrant signed by a 10th Judicial District Court Judge for the following charges:
Domestic Abuse Battery – Strangulation
Domestic Abuse Battery – Child Endangerment
Domestic Abuse Battery – Serious Bodily Injury
Deputies say Gowins fled the scene and is believed to be armed with a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun. He is also considered to be very familiar with wooded areas.
The victim was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries. A child was present during the incident.
Gowins has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as a wanted person.
A BOLO message has been broadcasted to other law enforcement agencies.
