Bethlehem Cancels Christmas

Church leaders in Bethlehem and across the Holy Land have decided to mute Christmas celebrations this year due to the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
Bethlehem usually comes alive at Christmas. Not this year. In the Holy Land, celebrations have been canceled: no parades, no bazaars, no public tree lightings.

I'd be cranking it up now more then ever.

Lame. They should have the biggest one ever just to rub it in the Palestinians faces.

Wow.
They’ve literally cancelled Christmas. My squad leader must’ve finally received his back pay.

They're kinda letting the enemy win with this one

If you pump up the awesomeness of Christmas, maybe the Jews and Muslim will just convert over to the good guys. I dare them to deny peak 90's Mariah.

Bethlehem is in the West Bank. They are the Palestinians.

They are Palestinians, for the most part. You do have a few other groups though, like the Armenians.

Correct the people that canceled it are the Palestinian leaders of Christian denominations.

That is pretty judgmental, especially for a Holiday thread. It's also an incorrect use of the word literal.

Then the terrorists are obviously winning. They'd like nothing more than for Bethlehem to cancel Christmas.
Well, maybe killing some more Jews. That's pretty high on their list. They'd probably like that more. But just saying.

Well at least there will be plenty of room at the Inns there.

Israel would have to pause killing us to celebrate Christmas

And if I could add one thing, Christian populations in the West Bank and Gaza have been inexorably shrinking since Israel allowed Palestinians to have their own civil authorities. The number of Christians in Gaza, for example, has declined by 2/3 since Hamas took over less than 20 years ago. Christians are more protected in the West Bank, but I've long felt that is because so much of the economy depends on Christian pilgrims who want to visit places like Bethlehem and Jericho, and are willing to spend lots of money.

They had a big census going on 2000 years ago and didn’t cancel it.
