Buy a ham or a gift card and say it was your Christmas bonus.

Cash the check.

If you don't come home with something, she'll be suspect.

My employer at a small upstart company decided to frick with me and gave me a 20 pound bag of shelled pecans as my Christmas bonus. I was pissed given the astronomical growth we'd experienced since I came on, but I was raised right so I took them and went back to my office.

Later that day the secretary called me down and gave me my bonus check.

We had a gift exchange for work. At bosses house. Person who had my name shows up at door with a plant which was my gift. Boss thought it was a house warming present and took it for herself. Later on in the evening she realized I didn't have a gift and went upstairs and wrapped a used body pillow and gave it to me

I laughed way too hard at this.

i just this second received a $3,300 Christmas bonus from my job. I have been here 25 years and never got anything more than a ham or 100.00 gift card.

This is a very odd mistake of a post.

Our owner is going on a 3 week vacation starting at lunch today.

No bonus.

No Christmas gift or Christmas party.

Will still have a job on 1-2-2026.

Best was the year they gave Burberry Bags and a Kindle.

Worst is either the company engraved set of steak knives or the selfie stick.

Talk about worlds apart.

ETA: they threw epic holiday parties. One year they had a carnival with food trucks, a candy store and open bars. They shut everything down at 3:00 and the party started. If you got drunk, they paid for the taxi home.

That was in addition to the department parties.

I got the best gift ever. My principal on medical leave for the entire month. I've actually been able to get work done.

My current company gives Visa Gift Cards.

But I never minded company branded polos, ice chest, etc. either.

I would say my company gifts a moderately decent gift each Christmas.
I am always surprised of stories/gifts I hear that legitimately shock me from terrible to amazing. What are you guys getting as a Christmas gift from your employer?

I worked for one of the best bosses I ever had about 10 years ago and she bought everyone gift cards on her own dime, $50 each....and from stores where she knew everyone was liable to shop....for examply mine was a harbor freight gift card because she knew I was a tool junkie. It wasn't the money nor the gift itself it was the personal touch of connecting with her direct report interests outside of work. She also held a staff meeting once a month at a local baker, again on her own dime. There were only about 10 of us so it wasn't a huge amount of money but she put more thought into it than most people would.

Worst gift has been multiple layoffs on or about Christmas eve when working plant shutdowns.....

Now that’s the gift that keeps on giving all year.
