My son (pre-k) told me today about a kindergartener telling him to "give me the bike or I'll punch you in the face".

I told him the other kid is just trying to be tough and probably won't do that. Next time to keep doing what you want as long as it's your turn, and if he if you really think he is going to punch you, or you're scared, to hit him first.

His Mom thinks I should have told him to go to the teacher.

At that age, I wouldn't risk it. I would tell the teachers and they should probably have that boy removed from school.

Pre-K is what, 3 or 4? Your child is too young to be dealing with something like that.

Tell him to stand up for himself. There won't be a fight. Trust me, kindergarteners are all talk.

Go to the teacher first and put it on record that you tried to let the school deal with it. If it happens after that then let him deal with it.

You're gonna get a bunch of responses from OT hardasses telling you to instruct your son to slug the other kid in the face, which is the incorrect answer.

I think your response is correct, but just how much drama can a three or four year old kid get into, brah?

Even though you handled it like a pro I would have added what his mom told you.

Your son needs to know that there is an adult-parent figure at school that is looking out for him to feel safe there.

Tell him to toss or wheel the bike as far as he can and tell that bully to go pick it up like the little bitch that he is.

Tell your son to tell the bully it's going to awfully hard to ride that bike if it's shoved up his arse sideways!

He got pushed off the jungle gym and knocked unconscious a couple weeks ago. Totally different kid/circumstance.

You did good TT. I'd def inform the teacher to avoid further BS. No sense in your dealing with that at such a young age.

Your toddler got pushed off a jungle gym and was unconscious?! You can't be serious. That shite wouldn't fly with me. Not at all.

I'll talk to the teacher too. It's a good school so they usually have plenty off teachers or assistants looking out.

I wonder if anyone has done this and what came of it...in the time of the meeting and afterwards.

They were playing super hero vs villain. Pretty innocent that time. The other kid is my son's best friend in this scenario. Mom apologized over and over.

TT1185:

You should have posted-
"Give me the answer or I'll punch you in the face."

You know your kid, think about it and the proper tack to take will come to you.

Well I guess that makes it okay even though your son may now never know math.
