What’s the furthest drive in a single trip? Don’t underestimate EVs for commuting
Posted on 6/19/25 at 1:52 pm to YouKnowImRight
Toyota or Honda car or suv

You cant be bringing customers out to lunch in a civic in 2025.
IMO, a full size 4 door truck or full size SUV is the only acceptable answer when transporting customers is involved.

That was my point. They may be good commuters but no way you want to drive 4 hrs in one and then load your 7 figure client in a Civic to go eat lunch.

Specified total miles but not per trip. Under 200 miles a day I’d do an EV

I drive 30k miles a year and need a 4WD truck. I’d love to have a 2500 and a Camry but the cost of maintaining and insuring 2 vehicles offsets any gas savings.
I buy Silverado or Sierras one step above the work trucks. They’re typically low to mid 50s (less if you don’t need 4WD), will get 18mpg ans will be pretty maintenance free for 150k miles and hold a solid trade in value. They drive great and have plenty of accessories.

It wouldn't be customers, mainly employees. But similarly, you want to make a certain impression on the people you oversee.

Half the trips would be over 200 per day. EV is good for daily commutes, but I'm not comfortable depending on them for longer range driving.

Nowadays I’m putting a massive premium on two things:
1- a high quality, accurate steering assist helping stay in lane
2- variable speed auto sensing cruise control
I still do long trips and these are game changers for a reduced stress drive. Especially on single lane roads.
