91 Isuzu Trooper. Small Chevy v-6, automatic. I still have it. It's a bad arse.
I drove it a thousand miles in a blizzard. Things were bad from D.C. to Barr Harbor, Maine.
The heater isn't great though.

Currently have an LX470 that I love...but by far the best SUV I've ever seen in the snow was my 1991 Isuzu Trooper.
Drove through unplowed roads during the blizzard of '93 with over 20" of snow. That thing was like a freaking billy goat when it came to climbing and traction.

I mean, you can make any vehicle capable in snow with the right set of tires.

I can drive my 82 300TD in the snow with studs but it still feels like I’m going to die.

4WD 4runner has been great for me the few times its been in snow. Once was 18 inches and it was a beast

Quattro AWD in an Audi is the gold standard.
But I'd get an X5 M40i

How is the 4Runner and the q5?
I drove from Birmingham to Atlanta and back in the middle of the last great snow storm in December 2017 in a Toyota 4Runner Trail. Mostly 3-4 inches. One of the counties I drove through had up to 12 inches of snow in some areas. I had zero issues.

Full sized GM SUVs and the later model (2009-newer) Subaru Outbacks are both excellent on snow. One of those with a set of Blizzaks are about as good as you can get.
The off road oriented 4Runners are not quite as good unless it’s the limited with full time AWD. Even then it’s not as good as the full sized GMs or the Subaru products. But still solid enough.
No first hand experience with them but the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Audi Q7 are both supposed to be very good. Likely better than the 4Runner.
In Chicago it was always the lifted Jeeps and modified pickups that were the first to end up on their roof in heavy snow.

I used the cheapest snow tires you could find and used to motor threw the bad weather.
Do you keep the snow tires on a cheap set of rims or do you swap and put them on the factory rims?

Have experience with a number of 4WD and AWD vehicles in snow and ice over the years, and this may be recency bias, but Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q5 are two of the best I've ever put on icy and snowy roads. Don't have snow and ice much where I live, but when we do it is gnerally rough to deal with due to hills. Both of the two vehicles I mentioned handle that stuff with very little difficulty.
Edited to address price range. Audi Q5 or Q7 can fit <80K USD easily, For Cayenne, you would have to go used to get there.

Isuzu trooper is the best.

Nissan 4x4 on Duratracs with hill descent control on.
It's cheating.
This hill took out a ranger on tracks the following day.

Do you have snow tires? That is the most important upgrade over anything else.
I used some salvage yard steel rims + snow tires

No, you don't have an SUV manufactured by Tesla.
You have a car.
Everyone I've ever heard talk about it agrees... Subaru.
Second choice, Subaru. Then maybe Audi.

To be fair, I think mine was around 115hp.

No, it's the one with the 135 HP? Chevy v-6. with the automatic it has a setting that softens the shift for snow, and also starts off in higher gears, so it doesn't break the tires loose.
In everyday drive, it has a 4.30 gear ratio. It will go absolutely anywhere.
