My issue with these rankings is how random they seem. A few years ago Iowa was #1. The next year it was #13. Did it really drop that much in 12 months?
In 2017 Idaho was 32nd, they are now 5th. What happened in a few years to change their outlook so much?

My biggest complaint is our weather, and lack of mountains/beaches but that isn't even taken into consideration in this ranking.

I’ve been writing to the Louisiana government for years that they need to look into importing some mountains

The most surprising thing about this is that I didnt have to click through 50 slides of states + 5 slides of ads.

I didn't say it was the states fault for not having the landscape that I enjoy, but it's definitely something that is factored into my enjoyment of a location, same with the climate here

They don't even use all of the same criteria or weigh them the same way from year to year so it's just whatever they feel like at the time.

It might not be their fault, but they refuse to even respond to my letters. That’s why LA will remain where they are in the rankings

If they could figure out a way to give their cousin the contract y'all would get those mountains.

LA’s high obesity rating will not be taken away!

Louisiana is the 7th fattest state. West Virginia is no.1 now. It’s usually them or Mississippi

Rankings like these are all bull shite that some intern makes up to justify their summer position with a media outlet. If you enjoy where you live, don't worry about this shite.

this. I live in Temple, TX. It is boring AF. no major nice eateries. no major attractions.

but it's incredibly safe, low cost of living, good schools, no traffic, nice trails, great set of lakes, and a great place to raise a family.

i've met a few people that were here as young adults and said it was lame, conservative, and terrible for singles. they were all now in Austin. i asked them to continue to spread that message far and wide that Temple is a terrible place for anybody that valued culture. i personally loved that article that circulated a month back about the guy that moved to Austin, hated it, and moved back to CA.

i love it here and have no desire to leave. let the coastal people have their rankings and wank off to them.

Those things are important, but not at the apex of what I would call "best state."

It's all about opportunity, commies don't understand that.

Every time state rankings come out the general consensus is they’re a load of bullshite.

I think the OT should devise a way to do official annual state rankings. With actual criteria and a rubric system for grading.

Someone else work out the details, I’m just the idea man.

Don’t get me wrong, that list would also be a load of bullshite, but it would be entertaining as hell.

The best, most important states in the union are CA, FL, and TX.

Florida may have it's problems, but to act like Florida is not top 10, is just letting floridaman win.

As I said, if you would be so kind as to reference my full comment, I am planning on making the move to Mississippi or Louisiana for retirement.
Yeah, I enjoy this little town of Lawrenceville, but the state has flipped blue, Atlanta is expanding and encroaching on my little piece of happiness here, and I hear the deep south calling my name.

Context, my brutha. Context.
