Don’t listen to these nerds who say old school safety razors are better than a modern razor.
It’s a big fricking waste of time and money for a less-close shave than a typical Mach 3 style blade but they won’t admit it because they wasted a bunch of money on gay brushes and scented soaps.

I buy directly from Dorco. I'm pretty sure they are the suppliers for DSC. They always have sales and comes out dirt cheap.
EDIT: Just saw as of exactly a month ago you have to go through amazon. Used to buy direct from them but would buy 3 months worth at a time.

Is the safety razor as good as all the hype? Seems kinda cumbersome and clunky but I dunno

way better shave than cartridges
you don't need a 5 bladed battery operated monstrosity to shave your face. And you'll save money in the long run. You can buy 100 blades on amazon for like $6.

Took a little bit to find the right gear and learn my facial hair patterns but I will never go back.

I still use a two blade Gillette. Never been a fan of the 6 blade pivoting head razor. The safety razor thing is sounding more appealing

I'm looking into this. I think it'll give me a close shave.

It takes a little while to get used to it because it's a lot easier to cut yourself if you try to rush. That being said, I used to get ingrown hairs all the time but haven't had any since switching to a safety razor around eight years ago.

The only ACTUAL benefit is that the blades are far cheaper than buying cartridges from Gillette, Schick, etc. You can buy like 50 blades for less than what it would cost to buy 4 Gillette cartridges. Otherwise, it's more work to get the exact same shave you would get with a two/three blade cartridge razor.
Personally, I like the generic brand of the Schick Hydro 3 cartridges. The gel in the Hydro cartridge does make the shave a bit more "slimy", but it also makes a slick surface on your face. I can go weeks, sometimes months without even the slightest of nicks. The great thing is that the 1st generation Hydro cartridges got replaced and now you can buy generic brands of the EXACT SAME CARTRIDGE for far less than the name brand and they fit on the mach 3 handle.

I prefer Astra blades
I've gone back to spray foam. The soap is just a PITA and adds lots of time without much benefit for my face, for me.

Yes. the set up is a pain to travel with, but at home it has changed my life. I never get razor bumps. With Gilette I lived with them.

That's cause the multi bladed razors pull the hair up and end up cutting it so low that the hair is cut below the skin.
I'll never use a multiblade again, if I can help it.

I spent $11.88 on blades and $23 on a razor in October 2016. I have yet to replace either.
You're saying over the past 3 years, you've spent less than $35 on razors/blades?

Astra blades are my go-to but sometimes I’ll get a dud in the pack. Got rid of all my gillette silver blues. Too much adhesive on the blade to make the package paper stick.
