My neighbor has one that uses a buggsy straight one.
I pay him to wash my house.

Yamaha pressure washers run cat pumps and are true commercial units.

I bought a second-hand hydraulic jet from this bankrupt hydraulic mining company. Works great.

Engines are important, but not most important on a pressure washer.
The pump is. The number one failure item is the pump. They have 20-30 o-rings that can dry out and fail. Some pumps even have their own lubrication system. For household cleaning, GPM is just as important as PSI. High pressure is great, but you need lots of water to do the heavy lifting.
As a few others have said, it's much easier to rent a commercial grade unit than buy and maintain one. Even easier, is hiring someone with their own machine.
If you want one to wash the boat, RV, and ATVs get a basic model from the home improvement center that takes up the least amount of floor space in your shop. As a reference, most car wash wands are about 1200psi and 4-5 GPM.

HF Predator 13HP engine, outfitted CAT 4000psi/4gpm pump, cheap frame from a small engine shop. Build your own with basic tools for 1/3 price and get a much better pump than anything a box store will sell you.
