Lafayette or the best spots on the Northshore
I’ve lived all over north and south Lousiana and this is the correct answer. Ruston ain’t bad, but Covington / Mandeville and Lafayette is where I enjoyed living the most.

Probably Jigger, which is not too far up the road from Metropolis, home of the Daily Planet.

I like it in Central at least while my kids are still in school. Property values staying good because there are no DR Horton houses here. It's not nearly as white as it used to be, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, because I haven't noticed any culcha here.

If you are wealthy, the answer is New Orleans and it’s not close.

Ruston is becoming a really nice small college town. You have no damn clue.
No no no I am not arguing that it’s not but this guy was making it sound like Ruston is the only decent place in the entire state and “it’s not even close”. You could argue it’s the best but there’s also a few other spots that are right up there.
Earlier in this same thread I listed Ruston on my personal top places to live in Louisiana.

Alexandria. Big enough to have stuff, and not so big that traffic is an issue. Multiple reservoirs for both fishing and water sports. Lots of public land in the form of national forests and WMAs. Very close to Cane River. Two niceish public access golf courses. Not limited to one land type. I could go on and on.

It is being encircled and preyed apon, lots of break ins and even some home invasions on the outskirts starting to work their way in.

It really depends on where you are in your life. There are several great places to “live” “retire” “raise a family” in Louisiana. It’s just depends on what your interest and hobbies are Louisiana has a lot to offer
Good point. 36 yrs old. Looking for a good place to raise a family where I don’t feel the need to pack heat to go out and buy groceries. Good school system. Like I mentioned before I fly out of msy a good bit and love going to lsu games so being no more than an hour or two away from that would be a plus.
