Anything that runs and drives is worth $1-2K to someone.

I took two to Carmax, a 17-year-old V70 in great shape with 240k on it. They offered me $500. I said no, and talked to my mechanic. He set me up with another client who paid $2500. She loved it.

I took a 9-year-old S40 to Carmax that had some mechanical issues. They inspected it and offered me $3500. I signed that paper as quickly as I could and called my wife to come pick me up.

Doesn't hurt to try. Just have a good idea of what it is worth and what it needs before you go in.

Just go park it on any street in North Baton Rouge or in Gardere. You won’t get any money for it right away, but you can then make an insurance claim. Make sure your comprehensive insurance is up-to-date!

This is what we did when my wife needed a new car. We had 2 or 3 trade in offers that were ridiculous and then looked at carmax. I didn’t realize how bad the dealerships were on trades now.

I sold an Infinty G35 with a busted water pump on FB Marketplace for way more than carmax or any of those were offering. I had 41 messages in marketplace in the 1st day. Someone will buy it to flip or take a train ride to Mexico. What kind of car is it?

I got $500 for my 97 Ford Ranger with a blown engine this way back in 2012. I posted in the Quik Quarter, they called and came the same day and hauled it off. No haggling or anything.

Yes it runs and AC works. The oil lights may be a sensor issue.

Then I stand by my original post. You should be able to get at least 2 grand for it.

Carmax was only gonna give me $200 for a used Accord. I said nope! Sold it within a day for $800.

Wow- $200?? I don't blame you.

I can only guess it was in really bad shape- because those guys have a reputation in BR for usually holding to their original offer. Was it running?
