I’m not looking for new. I’m looking for new to me. 3 to 4 years old would be totally fine.

Buying a Nissan Armada new is just stupid, it is one of the fastest depreciated ICE vehicles out there, but that makes it a great used buy. You can get a loaded, low miles 3-4 year old Armada in great shape for $30k. If you lax your year requirement a 5 year old Armada can be had for under $20k.

That’s what we ditched back in April when the transmission gave out at 106k miles. It was a 2017 and it was only worth about 12, a newer trans was 4500, I ended up replacing the valve body myself bc no shop would do it without rebuilding the whole transmission, then I sold it bc I didn’t want it to be a money pit for me.

From our experience shopping a year ago.
Volkswagen Atlas w/ 2nd row captains chairs was the most comfortable. And most trunk space.
2024 or newer Honda Pilot was the best drive. (Didn't test drive the Acura but that would probably win.)

While I fully agree with you, that’s a bridge I’m not crossing rn lol
Brah, you were relying on your in-laws hand-me-down until y’all broke that one too.
Get a minivan, it’s the most efficient option.
I had Mrs Füt (no pics) in one for six years, though it was new and back when Nissan was a good option. It gave us great service.
Looked like this except in gold-

The ol' lady has a 2021 Highlander Hybrid, it is great, but not much room for the 3rd row. Make sure whatever you get has 2nd row captain chairs.

Yep, if I came home with a minivan for my wife things would not be kicking in the bedroom.

Maybe it's dumb but I would not buy anything in the 2020-2022 range. I worry about quality assurance when everyone was forced to work from home in that span.

This is the answer. Had my wife in a dodge caravan for 6 years or so. It was a fully loaded GT model, slightly used still with plenty of warranty at the time for around 30k or a little less maybe.
The point I am trying to add to here is that OP could get a damn near brand new model of minivan for his price range. Once you own it and drive around, you get over your pride quick. I never gave a shite in the first place, but my preference is purpose and function within my means, not how you think you look.

I was faced with this same problem about 2 years ago. Rod bearing went out in our Mazda CX-9 while we were traveling and we needed to buy a car in 24 hours.
We ended up getting a Subaru Ascent. It has worked for us and our two kids, but it will be too small if we end up having another kid in a car seat.

Going on year two with a Mitsubishi outlander. Motor is a little small, but we’re not running any races so it works perfect.

We’ve owned 3 SUV’s with 3rd rows and I can only recall us using the 3rd row once in my 15yrs of marriage, and that was to bring some other parents to their car from a bar. Is 2 rows even an option?

You should be able to get an Acura MDX in that year/price range

IMO the best/nicest 20/21 3 row for ~30k is the Acura MDX.

quote:When I flew into Orlando a few weeks ago Avis 'upgraded me' to a Toyota Sienna from the 'Standard Elite SUV' to a Toyota Sienna Hybrid. I went to my spot with mini AS to get our bags in the car and thought about turning around and trying to swap, but I'm kind of glad I didn't. The thing was zippy, rode like butter, and I only had to fill up when I went to drop it off because the thing has like compact car fuel economy.
Get a minivan
It fills zero needs for me as an everyday vehicle, but if I had multiple kids, I would absolutely look at one of those. I get if the wife has a hangup on minivans, but those things do everything an SUV can, but with better mpg, better ride, as much or more space, and with the sliding doors you don't have to worry about the "shite!" moments when your kid flings the door open in a parking lot, or trying to get the kid in if someone is to close to the line with the sliding doors.
Just my $0.02. Toyota or Honda Minivan, or Toyota, Honda, Acura SUV.

CPO Infiniti QX60 (2022 or newer).

We’re kind of in the same position right now. We’ve looked at the pilots, VW Atlas, and Explorers. We’ll probably stay away from the Explorer though. I’ve got a King Ranch and it’s given me hell since I bought it

Highlander or Pilot. I’ve had both in the past. Just research the year you look at for any major issues. They can all have those type issues. Maybe consider a certified vehicle.

Explorer or Grand Cherokee L.
Used cars are a crap shoot. Might as well get something where the parts are cheap and plentiful.

We had a 2017 Highlander we traded in April for about $16k, for reference. We traded for a 2020 Lexus GX for a little under $40k
I rented a new palisade a couple weeks later, Highlander was a much better ride, Palisade had nice interior touches but just not as good of a car.
Highlander, pilot, cx9 probably your best choices in that order. Another poster mentioned an MDX, I can comment on the price but I’m sure it’s a great car.
