And pay the extra $25 for the glaucoma tests, if you go there instead of an optometrist.

You can prepay for the next 3 years eye exams if you join their club. No fees for unlimited visits and a discount on glasses and contacts. It may be worth it to you.

Get your glasses and contacts prescriptions and leave.

Do not buy your glasses there. Zenni is incredible. Like 30% of the AB cost when you get upgraded lenses. I’m talkng under $130 for no line slim bi-focals with scratch resistant lenses and a couple of custom fit sun glasses covers.

Google for a coupon.

So how exactly does Zenni work? Is there anything specific I need to ask the doctor for when I go in for my eye exam? I’ve heard of some docs being a pain in the arse about giving you your prescription if you’re not buying from them directly.

TIA

This
I had lasik 15 years ago. Best thing I ever did, vision-wise

For the rest of the contact-wearing family I go to vision direct from England

Just ask for your prescription but they’ll probably give it to you anyway.

You’ll need the info to enter into zenni. You can also scan it and attach it if you want them to double check it.

Each set of frames you like can be put in on one of their face models with a similar facial structure to you or you can upload a pic of your face to have the frames placed on your pic.

Cool stuff. Easy to do.

Zenni Optical

Fun fact: 99% of glasses come from the same manufacturer in China

I haven’t paid more than $30 for glasses in 10 years and I wear them every day

A doctor will give you your prescription but they probably won’t give you your PD. You’re going to have to measure that yourself but it’s very easy

Your PD is the distance between your two pupils in millimeters. I suggest measuring it yourself and then having someone measure it for you and if you guys both get the same number use that

Costco does a great job. Their progressive lens are made by Elissor, makers of Varilux and their coatings are as well. Wife and I got two pair progressive each, one being polarized Transition lens with frames for less than varilux comfort lens alone at an optical dispensary and the Costco are HD.

I was sold on Zenni first time I used them but the last two times I've rolled snake eyes. I currently have two Zenni pairs sitting in a drawer somewhere just waiting to go in the trash.

I mostly use them for work glasses if I'm outside and exposed to the elements. I have a second nicer pair for all other times. Just for me personally I tend to make unlucky choices unless I can try them on in person and check them out in a mirror before buying.

Costco is the best. I went to my normal eye doctor since I still had insurance through work. However my wife didn't have insurance and since Costco was only 55 for a visit, she went there for a check up. My normal eye doctor was there doing work on the weekends...

Plus the glasses and contacts are some of the cheapest around.

Vision Insurance varies, but it’s cheap for a reason. Some times limited choices of frames and even offices that take it.

Kind I have is really good. And cheap ($3-4 a payperiod). Most places take it. Last I went (last summer) I got designer frames with upgraded lenses, designer prescription sunglasses with upgraded polarized lenses, a year's worth of contacts, and the upgraded eye exam for only $400. This was at Visionworks.

am technically nearsighted, but it has been years since I have had my vision prescription updated. The last few visits to the DMV. I passed the vision test without glasses.

I am technically a little nearsighted as well. But my prescription is so low that I don't wear my glasses or contacts daily. So a years worth of contacts will last me 2 years. I mainly wear contacts if I'm going out at night (movie, concert, etc). Used to wear my glasses at work everyday and at home to watch tv...but lately I don't even do that and I'm just fine.

Costco pretty good option for glasses and contacts if you want a local option...wife uses them. I wear daily contacts I get online...expensive...around 800 per year. but extended wear contacts much less expensive.

Or you could just get everything from the OT...

Eye Exam: $3.50
Glasses: $3.50
Contacts: $3.50
Lasic: $3.50
Vision Insurance: $3.50

I have vision insurance and it really is just break even for glasses and contacts. The only reason I keep it is in case something serious happens to my eyes. It also covers part of lasik if I ever choose to go down that road.
