I wear daily disposable contacts and they cost about a dollar a day. Couple hundred maybe for an eye exam and prescription good for 18 months.

Glasses since I was like 12, and contacts since 14ish. I've spent up past a grand on glasses, and exams a year in the past.
This year I decide to shop for glasses first then the exam, so I dont get suckered into frames. Last friday, got my eyes checked, 145 for both prescriptions, and 2pairs from warby parker for 250. The kicker is always the "lens extras" which is like the add-ons at a dealership when you are signing paperwork. So the "$95/per" deal had $30 added to it to make them thinner, but nonetheless I came out better than usual.
I think zennis is probably a better deal, but I dont care for the uploading my face pic to "try on" piece.

I just purchased two boxes of contacts (24 in each box - good for 28 weeks if you change them every two weeks) for $117.00 from Walgreens using the 20% off code

Funny, My wife just had Lasik done yesterday. Has always had glasses and contacts. God knows what we've spent buying both. She finally bit the bullet, spent $1000 on the procedure.
Went this morning for her check up, doc says she'll have 20-20.

I recently bought glasses from zenni. $14.90 to have them delivered to my house. Good quality too.

Is she a candidate for lasik? If so, for around $2k she wont have to worry about vision insurance anymore

How does one not have vision insurance? It’s peanuts per month. Like $5-$10 peanuts

Just do fee for service. Glasses aren't that expensive.

Warby Parker has a store on Magazine Street. Very affordable frames.

Skip glasses and go straight to lasik. I just got my first set of glasses and they have made things worse.

Vision Insurance varies, but it’s cheap for a reason. Some times limited choices of frames and even offices that take it.
It is kind of like this scene from The Jerk for some plans LINK.
I am technically nearsighted, but it has been years since I have had my vision prescription updated. The last few visits to the DMV. I passed the vision test without glasses.
I can remember one time BCBS of LA was testing the Davis Vision plans and included it with my medical insurance. I jumped on that, but I could only go to America’s Best in my area and get a set pair of glasses with a certain price for frames. It still ran me about 100 for the visit.
Since I was at America’s Best, I probably could have got the 2 pairs and the eye exam for 69 special and paid less.

Another option would be to set up an appt with an eye do. Who takes your health ins. Have a comprehensive exam, but let them know you are having headaches or dry eye. The doc can do a full exam but put your chief complaint as headache or dry eye, which he/she can then bill under your medical ins.
