Airline miles and hotel points, plus the status achieved for each

Thankfully haven’t had to fly much for any job, not more than a handful of times per year.. airlines can go frick themselves.. but figured out recently that I’ve spent over two years of my life (I’m mid 40s) in hotel rooms; a couple years ago i finally hit Lifetime Platinum status with Marriott, and as soon as i did, they added another tier above it (Titanium i think ?).. but I’m all like, ‘Nah I’m good’.. if you are Titanum status that means you’re almost never home.. which could be a good thing for some people, i guess .

This, and company vehicle w/gas card...

all the games, trips, etc. are nice one time things. i get those as well.

but company car with gas is saving you insurance, gas, and a car payment. especially if you get to use it for personal use.

i've had to drive a ford focus and escape for the last 10 years which sucks, but it can be a freaking prius for all i care.

Company vehicle that I can use for personal use- gas used for personal use is paid for by the company too.

I haven’t paid attention to gas prices in 15 years.

In practice, I’ve encountered the “too good to be true” mentality with unlimited PTO - people afraid to take advantage of it for fear of retribution. The rub, however, is that it doesn’t get paid out like accrued PTO if you get canned. Not a huge deal but certainly something to consider for long timers.

Not having to pay out PTO when an employee leaves the company is the primary reason I believe most professional organizations will migrate to this model.

If you avg a 45 hour work week and take off a full three weeks vacation plus your holidays you will still work 2080 hrs in a given year. Essentially, PTO as a benefit is an illusion. This of course only applies to salaried employees.

unlimited snacks
company paid gas
company paid tolls
company paid routine vehicle maintenance
company paid internet
company paid phone
remote working
travel, hotel and registration fees paid for professional conferences (2-3 per year)
$500 annual PPE allowance
gym membership
1/2 day Fridays
several golf and clay shoot events a year.
office is closed the week between Christmas and New Year
I've worked here long enough, they no longer track my PTO...I suppose being ignored is a perk.

I also go on 2-3 guided fishing trips a year with contractors and receive a slew of gift cards come Christmas time.

We also have a really good benefits package for our industry with a solid EOY bonus.

I was never that lucky, but I had a friend who was an outside salesman. His boss bought him a bay boat to take clients out fishing with all expenses paid.

The owner of the company had a ranch in South West Texas, that had plenty deer, bass, dove, quail, etc. The owner would pick him up in the private plane in Houma and they would fly out there for the weekend.

I went to the ranch one time, had all the food/drink you could ever want. It was far enough away from civilization that nobody cared what you did. Did some illegal stuff, we shot everything in site.

Friend was even screwing the owners daughter, owner had no clue. It was a pretty sweet gig he had, company was sold a few years later.

Company cooks breakfast in the office kitchen every morning, groceries supplied by the company. I show up every morning to eggs, sausage, biscuits, waffles, etc. There's also an assortment of complimentary snacks, chips, nuts, and crackers etc. Someone usually breaks out some kind of dessert in the afternoon when someone makes a fresh pot of coffee. Fridge full of soft drinks and redbull. Got to watch that initial 15lbs you can put on here. Pace yourself baw.

Company elk hunting trip every year. They rotate employees that go with some clients every year, I don't get to go but every so often, but really awesome trip.

Very casual attire. I show up in shorts, t-shirt and boat shoes pretty much every day.

My wife used to work for Hyatt corporate and got like 15 free nights per year at any property. Only caveat was that you could only stay at any one property 3 nights within a calendar year, and also had to pay the taxes.

Easy enough to work around though. We went to Hawaii and island hopped. Went to the all inclusive in Jamaica and spent 3 nights in the adults resort and then moved to the all ages resort. They were attached and essentially one resort, but technically separate properties.

That was an awesome perk that I really miss. Covered a lot of travel cost. She’s honestly contemplated trying to go back to work there just for that perk

I might bark up that tree next year if a few things go the way I want them to go.

Not me but my friend is a seafood buyer for a distributor and gets free samples all the time. She gave me some Sea scallops and Chilean sea bass last month. Not a bad gig.

That reminds me of years ago when i worked on movie sets, in a different lifetime.. there was something called craft services when you are on the set of a big budget film or tv show, as i often was, there was an unlimited supply of crazy good food, omelet stations in the morning, Mexican or Italian buffets for lunch, and all the assorted ice creams and pastries and coffees you could want available at all times.. ill never forget working on the set of the then new original CSI tv show, when i was just out of college; it had become a big hit and lunch was steak & lobster.. one of the crew baws comes up, looks at the lunch line and goes ‘Damn, surf & turf AGAIN ?!’.. it was a pretty epic time.. but yeah, pacing yourself was the name of the game, or else id already be dead of a coronary or diabetes by now .

Company car for 25 years.

Big perk-I arranged my own schedule and travel so if there was a game or concert I wanted to go see in another city I could arrange to travel there.

I traveled domestically for 30 years so accumulated enough frequent flyer and hotel points that we essentially had free vacations for the family.

And got to visit some places I would never have gone to otherwise from Texarkana to Newark to Fairbanks to NYC. (good and bad).

I got flown to Salt Lake City for our Christmas company dinner at Flemings. shite you not, they flew me from Knoxville to SLC and put me up in a hotel for a night so I could attend the company Christmas dinner.

Supposed to get a trip to Mexico in October, but I'm quitting so doubt they still give me use of their beach condo.
